I've always seen Disney World as a place of endless opportunities, a chance to get away from the real world, and lastly, a place to never, ever get bored. Throughout the endless times that I have been to the parks, I always found something new to do, whether it was go on a ride I've never been on, or eat a snack I've never had, or to meet an extremely rare character. I soon learned that there is so much to do in such a short amount of time.
Lucky for me, my time at Disney is a little more permanent, so I can finally fulfill my Ultimate Disney Bucket List. When I first came down and started this incredible journey on the Disney College Program I didn't even think I would get close to completing my bucket list. When I got closer to completing it, I found other things that I wanted to do, and other adventures to add on to it!
I've been on countless adventures and I've actually put dent in my Bucket List! Here's a little sneak peak of what I've accomplished so far!
8. Attend A Character Dining Experience
Now I have been to my fair share of character dinners, something about being surrounded by my favorite characters and food really speaks to my heart. If you know me, you'll know that I am happiest when I'm eating, so just imagine my excitement when I'm eating breakfast and Winnie The Pooh casually makes an appearance at my table. I'll give you a hint, it looks like this.
Of all of the character dining places that I have been I have to give a special shout out to The Grand Floridian's 1900 Park Fare! For breakfast you get to join, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Alice & The Mad Hatter, and of course Mary Poppins! For dinner you get to join, Cinderella & her Prince Charming, as well as her evil stepmother Lady Tremaine, and her evil stepsisters, Anastasia & Drizella! Not to mention that both breakfast AND dinner are ALL YOU CAN EAT. I would like to worn you, these meals cost a pretty penny, but I can promise you it is so well worth it.
7. Try the infamous Dole Whip (Located at the Magic Kingdom or the Polynesian Resort)
Okay, I know what you thinking, whats a Dole Whip?! Now when I tell you, you have to promise not to think its gross, it is a pineapple soft serve ice cream, and I can promise you it is one of the best treats to have during your time at Disney. ESPECIALLY on a hot day, it is the most refreshing treat that it might even convince you that you're on a beach in Hawaii instead of getting stuck in the Florida heat! Now there are two ways to order this incredible treat, my personal favorite way to order it is by getting a "Pineapple Float". Not only do you get the pineapple soft serve ice cream, it comes in a cup of pineapple juice!
6. Watch Wishes from the Magic Kingdom Resorts
Now when it comes to watching Wishes, that is something that I will never get tired of. I always try to watch Wishes from another part of the Magic Kingdom. Lets say that one day you don’t feel like dealing with the crowds of the park, but you did want to catch the nighttime spectacular, you could in fact watch Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian Resort, or from the rooftop of the Contemporary Resort, right by the California Grill restaurant! I’ve experienced both but I have to say that I would much rather prefer the Polynesian (because they have dole whip) and something about watching fireworks and playing in the sand makes me feel like I’m in paradise!
5. Watch Wishes from the top of Splash Mountain
THIS ONE. This is an incredibly hard wish to accomplish, but I can say that I was very fortunate enough to actually see the finale of Wishes right before I went down Splash Mountain and got soaked. Something about being high up in the air and seeing the fireworks from a different perspective was incredible. THIS ONE I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND.
4. Experience a Disney Holiday
YES. Whether it is, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day, or your birthday Disney World is the place to be! I love the holidays at Disney so much, it makes my heart so incredibly happy just thinking about it. I am an October baby, so growing up October has always been my favorite month for a few reasons, one being my birthday, two being I love the fall & three I absolutely love Halloween. If you have never been to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party then PLEASE put this on your bucket list too! Not only do you get to witness a special limited edition parade that is ONLY around for the parties, there is special limited edition fireworks, the RAREST of characters come out to play, and there is SO MUCH CANDY.
Lotso came out to play in Tomorrowland during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party!
After Halloween comes my other favorite time of year, Christmas! Leave it to Disney to have life-size gingerbread houses and decorations throughout their resorts and Christmas trees that are so tall they touch the clouds. I am at my happiest when it is the holiday season at Disney World, mainly because I also love going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, another ticketed event at the Magic Kingdom, with a special limited edition parade and fireworks! Instead of handing out endless candy Disney cast members hand out snickerdoodle cookies & hot chocolate! I also have to add that their costumes are so beyond adorable. On top of all this holiday magic, there is one special edition of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party that I have to share with you all. I’m going to try to sound very calm and collected when I say this, but YOU CAN MEET EUGENE FITZHERBERT A.K.A FLYNN RIDER FROM TANGLED. The LITERAL love of my life.
The Grand Floridian has the most beautiful life-size gingerbread house.
& of course I had to add a picture of my love, Flynn :)
3. Take a funny photo on Splash Mountain
Now I only wish that I had the photo to prove to you that I’ve done this but unfortunately it didn’t work out as well as my best friend and I had planned. I remember this so well its like it happened yesterday. My best friend in the entire world was visiting me, she is literally my twin, my other half, so when we do silly things we make sure that everyone is well aware of it. We were going on Splash Mountain and we were talking throughout the entire duration of the ride what we wanted to do for our picture. I was joking around with her and I said, “If only we had some books to read while we go down the big drop!” A few seconds later she screamed at me “ELLIE I HAVE BOOKS IN MY BAG LETS DO THIS”. My first reaction was like kk why do you have books in your bag? Then I remembered she was carrying her nephew’s bag and he had his favorite books with him that he wanted to bring to the parks for whatever reason! So, I think it was safe to say that everyone in our flume knew what we were trying to do and they all said that they were gonna contribute and be silly too! The big drop came and we had our books ready and we acted as if we were reading and then came the big SPLASH. We were soaked, the books were soaked, but we were so happy because this picture was going to be perfect.
Now, UNFORTUNATELY, the picture didn’t workout as well as we planned because the gentleman in front of us BLOCKED US BECAUSE HIS HANDS WERE IN THE AIR. Do I sound mad about that? Yes of course I was. Sadly, I don’t have this picture to show you all so you’re going to have to believe my story!
2. Eating and around the World Showcase at Epcot
Now earlier on I said I love eating, now imagine my excitement when it comes to eating at Epcot. Epcot is my favorite park of all time, when it comes to this park I have an entirely different bucket list, but I do want to share what are my favorite things to eat are! One of my most favorite times of the year is the Food & Wine Festival. Epcot is known for its World Showcase, which has 11 countries in it. Starting with Mexico & ending in Canada, or the other way around I guess it just depends on which way you want to go. My favorite pavilions are, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Japan & France.
Mexico mainly because I love tacos & margaritas. I could honestly live off of Mexican food. I’m known to be a really picky eater so once I find something that I really like eating I’m hooked. When I start off in the World Showcase, I go to Mexico, I either get the beef tacos or their loaded nachos which are incredible.
After I hit Mexico, I go straight to Germany, their soft pretzels are to die for. Not only do I get one of their soft pretzels but I also treat myself to their specialty grapefruit beer! Now I’m not normally a beer drinker, but I promise you when I say that this beer is incredible, if you ever go to Epcot, please go to this pavilion and get these two and once you do, dip your pretzel into your beer. It is DELICIOUS.
After Germany, I run straight to Italy, I mean they have attractive boys, pizza and wine, who wouldn’t run straight there. One of the best places to eat in Italy is Via Napoli, their pizza is OUT OF THIS WORLD. This pizza comes in all shapes and sizes, if you haven’t had one yet you need to as soon as you get to Epcot. Get their pizza and calamari I promise you it is life changing.
After Italy, go to Japan, they have a hibachi restaurant called Teppan Edo, and if I could eat there every day I would. Along with this wonderful hibachi meal I would highly recommend drinking a Tokyo Sunset along with it.
Right after Japan I would recommend going to France and getting yourself a few treats, the best treat that you could have is what I like to call a literal ice cream sandwich. I know France is well known for their bread, so imagine the softest bread and having your favorite flavor of ice cream in the middle of it. If you don’t want that, get yourself a macaroon ice cream sandwich, as well as treating yourself to a crepe.
AND LASTLY on this wonderful Bucket List, we are finally at number one!
1. Get serenaded by the Dapper Dans
This is the one thing on my Disney Bucket List that I have dreamed of happening for SO LONG. I am so incredibly happy to say that his has ACTUALLY happened to me, and I remember this day so perfectly. I was sitting on Main Street waiting for the Festival of Fantasy Parade to start and that's when the Dapper Dans come out to make their daily debut. I remember being so excited for them to come out that I started screaming and they came right up to me and sang JUST FOR ME. Oh my goodness it was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had. This is definitely one of my favorite memories.
