To My Other Half

Miracles come in twos...

To My Other Half
Blogspot

This week I want to write about someone very dear to my heart. The one person who I can’t live with, but certainly could never live without. The one person who defines the phrase “my person,” “my better half” and “my best friend”. This person equals up to every single one of the phrases and more. The person who can complete my sentences and know exactly what to say in the darkest of times. The person who catches me when I fall and is my anchor in this sea of life. The person who is literally my other half. This person I call my twin. When others find out I have a twin, the first question out of their mouth is “What’s it like to have a twin?” I can describe my twin in an endless number of ways, but I will describe her in quotes. My twin is selfless, my shoulder to cry on and the one person who understands me more than any other. Having a twin is like never getting rid of your best friend, having nightly slumber parties and always having a confidant in life. I can share my deepest darkest secrets with her and can never have judgement in return. She loves me unconditionally and is there for the small and big obstacles in my life. I am forever blessed with my life long pal.

1. “Twice as much to love, two blessings from above."

This quote is so true. There are so many blessings in life, but Amanda is one of the greatest blessings I will ever have. She is my heart and soul and my constant supporter. If I had a bad day or just need some time to vent, she’s the first person who comes to mind. Twins share a very special bond and not even a million words could describe what it’s like to share it with her.

2. “I would love to have twins. I think there's something nice about having two babies, and they're there for each other their whole entire life.”

This is exactly what being a twin is all about. I will have a best friend for life. I will be able to share my achievements and my downfalls with this person. I will always have someone to catch me when I fall. But most importantly, I will have someone who will never let me down.

3. “Twins have a special bond. They feel safer with each other than with their peers.”

As I was saying before, the bond twins share cannot be described but ultimately felt. It is true that you feel safer with your twin or sibling. If I were in a bad situation, she can make me feel like nothing is wrong, that nothing can get me and that nothing bad can happen to me. I always know I will have someone to protect me in this crazy life.

4. “She is half my soul, and half my heart, without my twin I’d fall apart.”

Amanda is truly my heart and soul. I couldn’t live life without her. I would seriously fall apart without having her there for me. Siblings may get on your nerves and you may always agree to disagree, but nothing is more comforting than a sister’s love.

5. “Everyone has a friend during each stage of life.

But only lucky ones have the same friend in all stages of life.” The most comforting part about having a twin is knowing I’ll always have her with me. I know she will never hurt me or abandon me. I was truly blessed with my best friend 22 years ago.

6. “Some souls just understand each other upon meeting.”

Having a twin is like sharing the same brain. She can finish my sentences and understand exactly what I’m thinking without me having to say anything.

7. “Twin sisters are the perfect best friends.”

There is no greater best friend than that of a sister. A sister is the true definition of a best friend.

If I could say one thing to my sister it would be thank you. Thank you for taking care of me when I’m sick, for wiping my tears, bringing me food, always knowing what to say, standing up for me when I can’t do it myself, but most importantly, for being you. You are truly the Meredith to my Christina, the Blair to my Serena and the best part of me. I love you more than I will ever be able to put into words.

Sincerely,

Your Person

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Sister | Brother Style - Word Press

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
