My Travel Bucket List

So much to see, so little time.

My Travel Bucket List

There are 196 countries in the world today. Of these, there are countless historical sights, monuments, and natural wonders. It would be pretty difficult to visit and experience every inch of the earth (unless you had all the time and money in the world), but there are some places that stand apart from the rest and make it onto many traveler’s bucket lists. Without further ado, here is mine.

1. French Polynesia

Anyone who knows me knows that I have an unhealthy obsession with the French Polynesian paradise of Tahiti, Bora Bora, and more picturesque islands. Lush green scenery surrounds the sandy beaches and sparkling blue lagoons. The bungalows propped above the water on these islands offer privacy and a perfect way to stay in this desirable destination. It reigns supreme at the top of this list.

2. Switzerland

Switzerland makes this list for its beautiful, mountainous landscapes and decadent chocolate. Combine the two into one trip and it sounds like the perfect vacation to me.

3. Venice, Italy

While there are many Italian cities and villages that I would love to visit, Venice is the top choice. I can't think of a better vacation moment than watching the sunset in the distance while enjoying a nice gondola ride through this enchanting city.

4. Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is listed as one of the seven wonders of the world, and with good reason. It spans 1800 miles around the coast of Australia, making it longer than the Great Wall of China and also the only living thing on Earth visible from space. Fun activities like snorkeling and scuba diving would be even better when done near this natural wonder.

5. New York City

Having been to the Big Apple multiple times, I could technically cross this off the list. But it remains here for the sheer fact that there is so much to do in the city that never sleeps, it requires several trips. It should be noted that trips to New York City during the holiday season specifically are a must.

6. Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

Perhaps the most photographed and visited spot in Ireland is the cliffs of Moher, located on the country's western coast. These beautiful cliffs offer breathtaking views of the green countryside Ireland is famous for, and the crashing waves below add to its beauty.

7. London, England

With plenty of postcard-worthy sights like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Tower Bridge to name a few, London is a city that makes it an appearance on many bucket lists, and mine is no exception. Taking a ride inside the London Eye would be my top choice activity while there, though trying to seek out a member of the British royal family would be a close second.

8. St. Lucia

Pristine beaches, tropical flowers, lush greenery, and mountains are the natural gifts of St. Lucia, a small island located in the Eastern Caribbean. Tourist activities like zip lining or parasailing would be an unforgettable experience here.

9. Maldives

Much like French Polynesia, this group of secluded islands in the Indian Ocean are the perfect getaway for beach bums. The biggest selling point of the Maldives, however, is the spectacular underwater restaurant Ithaa, which in itself is a bucket list item.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
