My Top Ten Most Motivational Songs.

We've all got them. Those songs that you blast through your head phones and sing along with as others awkwardly stare at you from afar. For some, the motivational songs that inspire them to keep pushing on are upbeat and fun. But if you check my "motivational" playlist on Spotify, you'll find songs with a melancholy feel. They may not be the usual "pump-up" songs to get you going in the morning, but they constantly remind me that I should look to God when I lack motivation.

So, take a look at the top ten most played songs on my "motivational" playlist:

1. Mended by Matthew West

This song has me smiling from ear to ear. It may not be the usual motivational melody, but its got a wonderful overall message. When I listen to this song I'm reminded that even when I feel broken, when I've lost all motivation, and I feel insignificant, God see's me as perfect and mended.

"When I see broken beyond repair, I see healing beyond belief. You see nothing but damaged goods, I see something good in the making. When you see wounded I see mended."

2. Who You Are (the acoustic version) by Unspoken

"I know that look, like you've got something to prove."

This song gives me the motivation to keep pushing forward! Sometimes I may feel unmotivated because I feel inadequate or unprepared for the task in front of me. But, I'm reminded by this song that I may not be able to change on my own but God can change me. He can turn my lack of motivation into courage, and my courage into motivation to prove who I am. When I am unmotivated, I reminded myself that I am a child of the one true king and what's more motivating than that?

3. Force of Nature by Bea Miller

This song reminds me that I'm courageous, fierce, and awesome. When I listen to this song I can't help but feel empowered and this confidence, gives me the motivation I had been lacking.

"Cause your a force of nature. Look at what you've done. I'm a caution taker, but your a force of nature."

4. Fly by Maddie and Tae

"Wondering if she's got the guts to take it. Running down her dreams in a dirty dress. So keep on climbing, though the ground might shake. We've come this far, don't you be scared now. Because you can learn to fly on the way down."

Those lyrics really hit home. Sometimes you find the motivation to push through, but that doesn't mean it's always easy or turns out the way you pictured it. This song reminds me that finding motivation to push through is important, but learning something about yourself is also a key aspect to understanding what motivates you. Also, it's a country song and who doesn't love a country song?

5. Best Days by Graham Colton

This song reminds me that there may be bumps along the way and you'll experience hardships. You'll feel unmotivated, but be reminded there's good days ahead. "Another face, another friend. And it's a winding road and it's a long way home. So, don't wait for someone to tell you it's too late because these are the best days. There's always tomorrow."

When I'm reminded that there's better days ahead then I'm able to find the motivation to push on towards the "best days."

6. Hold You Up by Shane Harper

"It's not easy, no. Finding the words to say. When your feeling lost, you'll find your way. The world is so broken and sometimes it leaves you cold. At times you can't find the fire that guides you home. The demons will haunt you and try to steal what you know. But the angles they brought you and there going to hold you up."

This song is upbeat and motivational. It is a constant reminder that this world is broken and sometimes scary. And when you feel lost and unmotivated, God's got the angels on your side. The demons may try to haunt you and hold you down, but the arms of angels will pull you through and hold you up.

7. Fathers and Daughters by Michael Bolton

This song is so sentimental. I want to cry whenever I listen to it. But for some reason, I get so much done when I'm listening to it. Maybe it's because it reminds me of my childhood or something along those lines. So, whenever I hear it, there's this deep motivation inside of me and I find the perseverance to push onward.

"When times are hard, I know you'll be strong. I'll be there in your heart and you'll care on. Like moon light on the water and sun light in the sky. Like fathers and daughters never say goodbye."

8.Soldier by Gavin DeGraw

This song has been played on repeat so many times... it's kind of an addiction. The beat and groove of the song is so darn motivating. I'm sitting in my seat while typing this article and dancing along. The lyrics talk about being someones soldier and being their shoulder to lean on when they need the support to care on. When I hear this song, I think of it as a motivational push from God saying "You've got this and I'll be your soldier. I'll fight for you. All you've got to do is keep working hard and I'll do the rest."

9. Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Danny Gokey

"The life you knew in a thousand pieces on the floor. Words fall short in times like these and the world drives you to your knees. Tell your heart to beat again. Close your eyes and breathe it in. Step into the light of grace. Yesterday's a closing door. Say goodbye to where you've been and tell your heart to beat again."

This song is my Jam! I feel like I'm in a room with just God when I listen to it. The world fades around me and it's just me and the Heavenly Father. The song reminds me that the world will break me down, but God allows me to step into the light of His Grace. And my heart will beat again.

10. My Story by Big Daddy Weave

"If I told you my story, you would here hope that wouldn't let go. If I told you my story, you would hear love that never gave up. If I told you my story, you would hear life but it wasn't mine. If I should speak then let it be of the grace that is greater than all my sin. Of when justice was served and where mercy wins. All the kindness of Jesus that draws me in. Oh to tell you my story, is to tell of Him."

The lyrics pretty much speak for themselves on this one. I can't help but want to jump out of my seat and start praising Jesus for the wonderful story He's allowed me to be apart of so far. When I struggle to find a sense of belonging or motivation, I remind myself that He's gotten me this far and He'll continue to see my story through.

That's it. My top ten motivational songs. There kinda all over the board, but they keep my pushing forward and they motivate me. So, I'll keep putting my earbuds in and listening to the beat because these songs motivate me to continue to lead the life God has planned out for me. It may be difficult at times, but I've got the music and God to nudge me onward as I travel the road ahead.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
