Now, like much of my generation, I spend a lot of time watching Netflix. I have been watching it for years, and because of that, I wanted to write about my top 10 favorite shows on Netflix.

10. The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

I fell in love with this show the first time I watched it. It's hilariously funny, and almost everyone can relate to feeling a lot lost in a new environment. I'd give this show a 10/10 and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is going through a big life change.

9. Once Upon A Time

Now, when I first heard about this show, I was skeptical. I didn't think that this show would do the fairytales I grew up with justice. I was proved wrong after the first episode. The storyline for the show is brilliantly written, but after the first few seasons, I feel like it got really chaotic. I still love the show, but I prefer the first few seasons to the way it is now.

8. Beat Bobby Flay

Now, I'm really into Food Network, so I watch a lot of cooking shows, but I really enjoy watching Beat Bobby Flay because of the fact it lets chefs who aren't as well known come and showcase their skills and see how they compare to the best of the best. I also love how it's just friendly and fun competition, with interesting new takes on old recipes.

7. The Vampire Diaries

I wasn't someone who's been a big fan of all the vampire falls in love with human storylines, but I figured I would just watch one or two episodes of this show, just to see what all the hype was about. After the first two episodes, I was hooked because I wanted to see what would happen to these characters down the road and I became invested. Just like with Once Upon a Time, I prefer the first few seasons of this show, because after the first few seasons, the number of different story lines and love interests gets a little too chaotic for me. but I love this show and I can't wait to see what the final season brings.

6. The Originals

This show is a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries and it follows the original vampire family the Mikaelsons, specifically Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, and Kol, as well as some old and new friends and foes of their family. I fell in love with the good and bad sides of the Mikaelsons on the Vampire Diaries, and when they got their own spinoff? I was hyped up beyond belief. I love this show because it goes a lot deeper into their stories and shows them in a whole new light.

5. BBC's Sherlock

Before watching this show, I knew about the stories of the great detective Sherlock Holmes and I had watched the movies with Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, but I didn't really know how I would feel about a TV show that would have Sherlock set in a modern time frame. While the episodes are long (about 85 minutes per episode), they are so worth it. The show is always gripping and each one leaves you wanting more. The only true problem with this show that all of its fans can relate to is that each season of the show is only 3 episodes, and there's always an extraneous gap between seasons, usually two to three years (mainly because both of the series' major stars are film actors who are always taking on amazing new projects).

4. Scandal

I don't know exactly what it was about this show that drew me in (probably a woman fixing Washington's biggest problems, to be honest), but before the show had even begun to air, I wanted to know more and I wanted to see where the storylines for each of these characters would go. I have never been disappointed, and as a big fan of Shonda Rhimes' other shows (*cough cough* especially Grey's Anatomy *cough*), I knew I wouldn't be disappointed and I definitely wasn't. This show is always gripping from episode to episode and from season to season.

3. Doctor Who

I had never really heard of this show before until a friend asked me if I would watch it with her one night while I was over her house. She told me it was about a time traveling alien who looked like a human and how he was sort of like a protector to earth. I'll be honest: I wasn't really super interested in watching another TV show about aliens, but I really started to get into it after the first few episodes she showed me. I had never really expected to like the show all that much, but something about the kindness that the Doctor shows the people of earth and the fierceness with which he defends it have tugged on my heartstrings in ways that I can't even describe and I just love this show.

2. Criminal Minds

From the age of 10, I was watching crime shows on TV with my mom. I had always watched shows that looked at the science behind crimes, but I had never really thought about what it was like to look inside the mind of the criminal. I don't know when I started watching the show Criminal Minds, but I can tell you that now, I have watched through the entirety of the series multiple times and each and every time I watch this show, I fall more and more in love with the characters and their stories. It's a gripping crime show, but it also shows the human side of the people who tackle such tough cases, and I believe that's what keeps myself and so many other viewers coming back.

1. Sons of Anarchy

This is a show that my mom and I started to watch together before it gained its now almost cult following. My mom had heard about this show a few years ago and she thought we should check it out because it sounded interesting. Sons of Anarchy is a show about a fictional biker gang in California and the struggles and crazy deals they get involved with, as well as plenty of kidnappings, shootouts, beatdowns, and fun and wild parties, as well as the bikers themselves and their internal struggles, both on a personal level and in their relationships with their brothers and families. While the show can be a bit graphic, it definitely keeps you interested from beginning to end and from season to season.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
