There are many different sorts of bands and an innumerable amount of types of people who can enjoy any combination. These are just eight recommendations from one person in the world of music.
1. MUSE
Muse is one of those bands that everyone hears, but not everyone knows. They are a British rock band formed in 1994 and are still releasing albums today. Some of their more popular songs are "Time Is Running Out," "Uprising," and "Madness."
2. My Chemical Romance
Personally, I am nothing if not an emo at heart, My Chemical Romance was an American rock band that formed in New Jersey back in 2001 and that split in March of 2013. Every kid who went through their emo phase had to have heard their punk rock albums "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" and "The Black Parade." Some of their most well-known songs are "Welcome to the Black Parade," "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)," "Helena," and "Teenagers."
3. Gerard Way
Gerard Way, previously the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, decided to go solo when the band split. His new music has since taken on a softer, '80s pop vibe. His music was influenced by bands such as The Pixies, who were best known for their song "Where Is My Mind?" You can sample Way's new musical style in songs such as "No Shows" and Brother."
4. Frnkiero and the Cellabration
The founder, previously known for his work in Pencey Prep and My Chemical Romance, decided to create a new band rather than going solo as Gerard Way did. This band has been described as alternative and punk rock. Their style is exhibited in songs such as "Weighted" and "She's the Prettiest Girl at the Party, and She Can Prove It."
5. Nightwish
Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Finland. They formed in 1996 and are still going strong. The band has a beautiful mix of rock and different operatic and classical singing styles. For an example of this exemplary style, listen to their song "Amaranth."
6. Bikini Kill
Bikini Kill was a band created in 1990 that lasted up until 1997. It was a part of the Riot Grrrl genre of music, which was an entire genre of music based off of feminism. Bikini Kill was a perfect example of this interesting genre, which can be experienced in songs like "Rebel Girl" and "Double Dare Ya."
7. Cherri Bomb/Hey Violet
Cherri Bomb was an all-girl alternative rock band formed in 2008. However, the band "ended" in 2013, dropping its all-girl status and returning the following year as Hey Violet with a new male lead guitarist. Cherri Bomb was best known for its song "The Pretender" and Hey Violent's most popular song is "This Is Why."
8. Nirvana
Nirvana, the most well-known of these bands, was created in 1987 and lived until 1994 after lead singer Kurt Cobain committed suicide. Nirvana is often known for its grunge sound, raspy vocals, and controversial topics, exemplified by songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Lithium."
