My Top 7 Christmas Songs To Listen To

Christmas is literally around the corner and all I have been doing is listening to Christmas song after Christmas song. Let's face it, anyone who knows me knows that I love Christmas. And because I love Christmas so much, I've gathered a few modern Christmas songs and created a playlist. Here are my top 7 Christmas songs to listen to:

1. Believe - Josh Groban

I picked this one as the first one because there is something truly magical about this song, which is fitting for how truly magical Christmas is. Maybe it's just me, but I love listening to it. What made me first hear the song was that it was in the movie "The Polar Express" (a holiday movie classic) and I thought it was a perfect song for believing in the magic of Christmas.

2. What Christmas Means to Me - Cee Lo Green

It was actually very recently that I heard this song playing on the radio, and I am absolutely glad that I was able to be sitting in the car at the right time to hear it because I absolutely love it. It is just such an upbeat song that makes you want to dance. In fact most of Cee Lo Green's Christmas album is pretty upbeat, but this song has be my favorite.

3. Underneath the Tree - Kelly Clarkson

First things first, I have and always will love Kelly Clarkson's voice, but in this song her voice is extraordinary, which makes me want to listen to the song more and more. Not only that, but it's also a really catchy tune and, even though I can't hit those high notes like she can, I always find myself singing along. And speaking of an artist who's voice I love brings me to the next song and artist on this list.

4. Cold December Night - Michael Bublé

Michael Bublé's voice is one that I absolutely love because of how smooth it is. I also love his style and how jazzy he is because I've had such a great interest in that style of music since I was a little girl. It's usually the way he takes on a song, though, that makes me enjoy listening to it. This song in particular makes me think of walking in Central Park, or just walking in New York City on a winter night while it's snowing and looking at all the twinkling nights on the trees.

5. I'll Be Home - Meghan Trainor

As I was looking through my playlist, I saw this song and I knew I had to include it in the list. This song is so absolutely sweet. It totally makes me think of home and my family. I adore the message behind it and the warmth I feel from listening to it. Also, Meghan Trainor is another one of my favorite artists.

6. Where Are You Christmas - Faith Hill

This song comes from a holiday movie classic "Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas." This movie is one of my favorites along with this song. This song is such a sad yet beautiful song. Honestly, I can't listen to this without having a few tears rolling down my cheeks. It makes me appreciate the holidays so much more.

7. All I Want For Christmas - Mariah Carey

Last, but most definitely not least, is a classic song sung by the one and only Mariah Carey. Now this might come off a strange, but I used to listen to this song when I was little as a lullaby to put me to sleep, even when it wasn't around the time of the holidays. It's my all-time favorite. No matter how many times I listen to it, it will never get old for me. Christmas will never feel like Christmas if I don't hear this song once during the winter season.

Now, when I do listen to these songs, I also have a mix of the classics in my playlist as well. Those will never get left out. But these are just some of the more modern songs for Christmas that I enjoy listening to that I hope you all enjoy as well. HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
