Having lived in Asia for seven years, I was exposed to many different cultures and experiences. I had the opportunity to travel to many different places in South East Asia while living on that side of the world. Having been born in the US, I'm so glad I got to experience Asian culture in all it's glory. Although I went to quite a few places, there were a few which really stood out to me.
1. Singapore
It's known for it's fish head curry and overly expensive prices, but one thing about Singapore is that it's beauty and hospitality is beyond compare. The endless amounts of activity and adventure that Singapore has to offer is something which can't be found anywhere else. Singapore will always be home.
2. Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia
Although we didn't reach the top, the view from the summit of Mount Kinabalu is one to experience whilst visiting or living in SEA. Even the view from the halfway point was something which I wouldn't have been able to experience anywhere else, and I'm glad that I had the chance to see this beautiful mountain.
3. Bali, Indonesia
This was always a family favorite. Bali is known for its natural beauty and friendly faces all around town. After travelling to Bali a couple of times whilst living in SEA, my family and I always tell people that if you haven't seen Bali, you haven't seen anything!
4. Hong Kong
The hustle and bustle of the city will make you want more and have you coming back to Hong Kong time after time. And for those who are looking for an escape from the city life, you can always take a trip down to Hong Kong Disneyland, a personal favorite of my sister's.
5. Koh Samui, Thailand
For all those youngsters looking to catch a break, Koh Samui is the place to be. A night here, and you'll wish that you could stay here forever, maybe even go to college on the beach!
