My Top 10 Natural Alternatives For Daily Products

In This Article:

When I was about fifteen I started to become intrigued by natural living. Products and foods that were free of chemicals, parabens, grown locally, not tested on animals and that was ethically sourced. I would spend and still spend my free time doing a lot of research on the products I use, as well as always finding new things to try. I find that it is incredibly important to know what you are consuming and using. This is the only body we get, so protecting it the best I can is something I am passionate about.

Here are a few all-natural products that are not only better for you, but better for the planet.

Household Products:

Laundry Detergent: Method 4x Concentrated- Fresh Air All Purpose Cleaner: Method Antibac- Wildflower

This laundry detergent is something I just made the switch to from traditional laundry detergents. It smells great and gets all the stains out of my clothes. This company stands for great ethical values which is something I love.

All Purpose Cleaner: Method Antibac- Wildflower

This all-purpose cleaner is something I have been using for a little while now. It is a wonderful alternative to Lysol or Clorox wipes which are filled with harmful fragrance and chemicals. Definitely a bargain buy!

Personal Care Product:

Lena Cup

This is probably something that most people don't feel comfortable researching or talking about, but after hearing so many horror stories of tampons and TSI (which is not just from leaving a tampon in for too long). I will never go back. This is a silicon cup that molds to the inside of you. You don't have to worry about leaving it in for too long or the environmental concerns that come with disposing of tampons and pads.

Shampoo/ Conditioner and Body Wash:

Shampoo and Conditioner: Desert Essence- Lemon Tea Tree

The ingredients in this shampoo and conditioner are sourced naturally from powerful ingredients the earth provides. It is free of sulfates and parabens. This specific shampoo has helped me with my oily hair.

Body Wash: Kirks Castile Soap- Original Coco

As someone with very sensitive skin, this bar of soap has saved me from rashes, and breakouts. My favorite part: you can get a pack of three at Walmart for $2.87 and each bar lasts forever. These soaps have many multi-uses as well.

Dental Product:

Toothpaste: Toms- Antiplaque and Whitening

This toothpaste is free of fluoride, has a great fresh minty taste. Because it is a natural toothpaste it does not foam up like a traditional paste would.

Face Products:

Toner: Thayers Witch Hazel- Cucumber

This product is wonderful to calm the redness in my skin and restore the natural moisture as well.

Toner: Dr. Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar

This product is another toner that has helped to kill the bacteria within my skin that occurs from my cystic acne. This Apple Cider Vinegar has many other uses as well.

Face Wash: Limelife by Alcone Dream Clean- Aloe and Soapberry.

This face wash has many natural properties that clean the skin while not drying it out. It is free of parabens and soap. It is also not tested on animals.

Moisturizer: Limelife by Alcone Cool Balm- Aloe and Kendi Oil

This moisturizer is wonderful at calming my skin by not overproducing the oil on my skin. The smell is very natural. This has been helpful and not irritated my skin. I typically use this every morning and night.

All of these products I fully believe are safe and healthy for you. Most can be found at Target and Walmart. I do try and catch many of them on sale seeing as though they do tend to be pricier due to the value they hold. So far my use with all of these products has been successful.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
