My Thoughts On Our New President

Before this starts I'd like to say that I will not be stating who I voted for in the 2016 presidential election. Please do not ask. Thank you.

I have never posted anything political on any of my social medias before. I don't much care for politics as a whole. I'm tired of this being something that divides the United States into overly violent groups of people. For every election I've been around for I’ve heard of people getting so loyal to one candidate that they turn a blind eye to their chosen candidate and only seeing the bad in the other. I've heard of people getting mad at one or more of the candidates and rioting, often resulting in someone being injured.

With this election I was approached by dozens of people who want me to sit quietly as they shove fact about their candidate down my throat, all good, never admitting to the bad when I asked them about it.

“Oh, it's been many years since Donald Trump was with those women.”

“It's really just been too long to hold those emails against Hillary.”

“Gary Johnson has must have plans on how we can be safe after he takes away all of gun regulations.”

I didn't much care for any candidate that was given this year. Who would? None of them are especially wise in their past, and who's to say that their past isn't going reflect on how they planned to lead the country?

When Trump was announced as the new president on the 8th of November I know many people who were thrilled and many people who were angry. Those thrilled believe that Trump can help financially (how many times has he been bankrupt again?) and that he will be the firm hand that America needs. Those angry have been crying out about his blistering attitude and about his “grab them by the pussy” comment made a few weeks ago. I've seen too many people get into arguments but online and offline over Trump. I've even seen and heard of people disrespecting the American flag simply because they are unhappy with the president elected.

I don't support Trump (though it's not like I supported any of the other candidates either). Yet at the same time, I also won’t try to argue with anyone who does. We have the right to our own thoughts on who should be president, and our thoughts may just happen to be different from each others.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
