On October 25th, 2016, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released the video for their new song "Drug Dealer", and I think it is one of the most powerful videos to be released in the past 5 years.
Today, we deal with so many gut-wrenching stories about young kids passing away from overdoses, or becoming addicted and sending their life in a downward spiral. But we forget about what's right in front of our eyes, prescriptions.
There are so many addictive prescriptions out there today, ones that can get you addicted from taking it twice, some so powerful you feel as if you can't live without it. Drugs aren't just cocaine, acid, and ecstasy, it's Xanax, Percocet, and Oxy. We forget about the drugs we're prescribed, the ones that are supposed to make us feel better but instead they break us down and make us dependent. The biggest drug dealer we all know is the pharmaceutical companies.
There are no words that can describe the art of this video. Knowing people who have struggled with addiction, and hoping for a change, I ask you to watch this video and truly listen to the words, and remember those struggling, and pray for their power to overcome.
