It's been several days since the Inauguration of Donald J. Trump and I am still in denial and shocked. From the start of election season, I was against Trump running, mainly because of his lack of political experience. As I listened to the debates and news, my respect for the man deteriorated.
Trump fails to show respect for immigrants, muslims, women, the LGBT community, and many more. Hours after being inaugurated, the Trump administration deleted the immigration, climate change, and LGBT page off the White House website. After seeing with my own eyes, I was terrified. Terrified for the future and for what this country has become. This was validation that he was not going to keep up with the promises that he said he was if elected President.
As a proud Hispanic, I fear for the plans Trump has for immigrants. The hatred he has for them. Trump ultimately wants all immigrants out of the United States. After all, isn't this country filled with Immigrants? I'm an immigrant, you're an immigrant, his wife is an immigrant. The hatred he has for these immigrants, is hatred he has towards you, me, and his wife. A nation with immigrants, makes a stronger nation.
I believe we can all learn from these individuals. Individuals who fled their country at a young age to have a better life for themselves, but mainly for their children. The bravery demonstrated is something us Americans can take from. We all dream of the "American Dream" why can't they?
Trump supporters are saying that we are supposed to respect Trump. My question is, how are we supposed to respect a man when he does not respect others? He does not respect his wife. Trump only cares about himself, didn't care about helping his wife out of the car. How am I supposed to feel that he will care/respect the American people if he leaves the "one he loves" behind.
How am I supposed to have respect for someone when he cheated on two of his wives? How am I supposed to respect a man if he claims he has "sex" in common with his daughter? Saying that he can grab women because he is famous and has money? That is no way a President, none the less, a man should be talking. Before he was elected President, he said he was going to release his taxes to the public after an audit.
Just recently, it was said that he will not be releasing his taxes. That's a promise he broke. Trump himself told New York Times, "No, I don't think they are concerned- I won". Well, you're wrong.
Trump is going into his presidency as the least favorited. Trump lost the popular vote by 1,864,974 votes, the majority favoring Clinton. The American people voted Clinton, while the electors voted Trump. As a citizen, we are obligated to file our taxes, therefore our President is obligated to do so as well.
Lastly, if you honestly think Trump can "Make America Great Again", you're wrong. America has always been great, an America that I love deeply, an America that others come to and sacrifice everything.
I sincerely wish Trump the best, and pray that he has guidance and will do what is right for the American people, and not what is right for him.
