My Thoughts On Caitlyn Jenner

Lately, my timeline on Facebook or Twitter has been overflowing with Caitlyn Jenner. For some reason, everyone can't stand the fact that Caitlyn has been awarded with "Glamour" magazine's, "Women of The Year" award. People from different backgrounds and beliefs are upset - some are Christian, men, female, athletes, mothers, or just outsiders wanting to cash in their two cents of hysteria. Many claim that so-and-so should have one; or a comment I hear the most is "She's not even a real women."

As a women and a Christian, I can honestly say I don't care if Caitlyn Jenner is awarded as "Women of The Year." And frankly, why should you?

Now I can completely understand why people are offended. But why is Caitlyn getting all the flack about it? She was AWARDED - she didn't call up Glamour and ask them to be Women of The Year. They picked her! So whatever hysteria or hate thats going on about this award, shouldn't it be towards Glamour?

Also, lets stop and think about the award. So this "Women of The Year" award was invented by who? Glamour... right! Ok - so we all know Glamour. A magazine that caters to fashionable women worldwide. Their bio even says, "Your guide to the latest fashion trends, outfit ideas, hair + makeup how-tos, and celebrity scoop is on Glamour.com." People, come on, this is an award toasted from a MAGAZINE company. I mean if I was being awarded from a magazine, then I wouldn't let anyone forget it. But why is the world making such a fuss about it? Caitlyn isn't getting the keys to your town, or being asked to move into the White House. No, she is being awarded by her stand out braveness - in Glamours opinion!

Now women, why are we so upset? Could it be insecurity that drives this disdain towards Caitlyn? For her to be nominated this award doesn't mean our womanly efforts go unnoticed. Could it be the title "Women" that upsets you so much? This isn't an award about being the best women in the world, each women nominated with this award had a reason that Glamour - (a fashion magazine may I add again) - saw fit. I'm just saying, if you are getting upset by a magazine award to the point you have to bash someone, then you have a lot of growing up and soul searching to do.

My real opinion on Caitlyn Jenner? I love her. I think she's beautiful, brave, and has a killer sense of style. But I have other things to worry about - I know my beliefs and convictions as a Christian, but I'm not going to bash someone because they want to live their life differently. Congratulations, Caitlyn!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
