If anyone has seen this movie or has read the book, then you know the love-hate relationship that you have with this story. Yesterday night, I go the privileged to watch the movie for the first time, and it may be one of my new favorite movies. However, I wished the ending was different, not for just the two could end up together, but something that doesn't require him killing himself. I mean, William did say, "You know something Clark, you are pretty much the only thing that makes me want to get up in the morning." To me, that sounds like a reason to live, right? Even through all the pain? Just so you can enjoy someone you just met basically, and live, even a little, longer.
Some of my favorite moments from the movie is the way he treated her back after everything she does to get him "living" again, such as the moment when he goes to her house for a birthday dinner. You can definitely tell who knows Louisa the best, especially for someone who only has known for two months or so, out of three years. Sorry, Neville Longbottom, you didn't make the cut. Should've went with something she ACTUALLY loved! *Coughs* Perhaps the bumblebee tights she mentioned...if you were listening...probably not.
Even the moment when they go to the wedding...how adorable can they get?! I loved it that she sat on his lap, and scooter them both onto the dance floor. Louisa knows his condition well, and just doing something like is very appreciable.
Also, let's not forget the GREATEST soundtrack that goes along with the whole story line. Some of the best songs include "Unsteady" (X Ambassadors), "Numb" (Max Jury). "The Sound" (The 1975), "Don't Forget About Me" (Cloves), "Not Today" (Imagine Dragons), and "Till the End" (Jessie Ware). Each of these songs, including the other ones not mentioned, bring more of an emotional tone to the movie. I caught myself a couple times tearing up a certain moments, when I realized what the lyrics were saying, and how much more they impacted my emotions. Amazing. Now I can see why, Jessie (from Pitch Perfect), wanted to be a the person who chose the music for the films. It's just outstanding.
Overall, I recommend this movie, even if you don't agree with the ending, such as myself, because it is really worth to watch. If I had to give a score from 1, being the worst, to ten, being the best, I would give it a nine. I don't usually watch a whole lot of movies, but this one has stood the most out for me. It was big, flashy, super dramatic, or the basic love story. It was about the simple things in life that stood out the most. If everyone lived that way, loving the little things, then think of how differently we can be with more love within our lives. I wouldn't mind going to a park, and to just sit, staring at everything around me. Thinking, "Wow, how did this stuff come to exist," as to sitting by your best friend as your both playing on your phones. Why can't we be addicted to the simple things in life?
