I currently have four tattoos. Each time I get a new one, I'm daydreaming about the next one I want to get. I've been interested in tattoos ever since I was younger, so as I got older, I couldn't wait to add to myself.
To me, tattoos are a form of art, a way to cover yourself in things that make you happy. Even sentimental things that you'd want with you all the time. Each person is different, but that's how I like to look at it.
Now, each time that I get a tattoo, I get a mix of emotions from the people that I'm sharing this part of my life with. There's some weird stereotype in the world that we live in, where tattoos are frowned upon, ESPECIALLY on women. People might think that I'm "dirty" or a "punk", but to me, getting tattoos is a form of art. It's a way to get everything I love on my body forever. What's better than that?
Yes, there are negative comments here and there, but I mostly get a positive reaction, which is heartwarming. Don't get me wrong, it's my body, I shouldn't care what people think, but sometimes, the negative comments of faces DO bother me.
We are in 2019. Anybody, of ANY gender, can get what they please. A woman getting a tattoo doesn't make her any less feminine. A nurse that is covered in tattoos isn't any LESS of an amazing human being. Let people do what they want! It's their choice, their bodies.
I'm fortunate enough to have loving, accepting parents of all of the choices that I make. My dad got a huge tattoo, his first ever in 52 years, honoring the Eagles after their Super Bowl win last year, so he's now more accepting than ever. For people who don't have that support, stay strong. DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY. At the end of the day, you will have that body for the rest of your life, so make sure you love it.
Tattoos of all kinds are beautiful, and so is the person wanting to get one. Remember, they're your tattoos, your choice, and it's your body. Keep doing what you're doing. If no one is supportive of it, know that I'm supportive of you!
