Mixed Martial Arts is a popular sport in the world today with the media covering the best fighters in the world. Over the past few years we have seen the rise of some of the best athletes in the world from MMA such as Conor McGregor and Georges St. Pierre. However, the most dominant athlete for awhile came from MMA and that was Ronda Rousey. From 2012 - 2015 Rousey was a force to be reckoned with, she would demolish everyone in her path and held the fastest knockout record for some time with a 14 second knockout that all ended 2015. She lost with a 2nd round knockout to Holly Holm, and hasn't fought since, the announcement for her return was announced last week and that raises the question, does she still have the same dominance?
Rousey hasn't been in the UFC since 2015 and she hasn't fought so I don't know how that will affect her fighting style and confidence. The fact that she hasn't had that mainstream exposure for awhile could cause her to be a little rusty in the octagon. If she really is the best in the world she will get the belt back no problem, but she does have to go up against a tough first opponent known as Amanda “The Lioness" Nunes. This matchup is going to definitely live up to the hype I hope.
The way I look at this matchup is two amazing grapplers and if Rousey loses her career is over. The reason I believe this is because when she lost the entire world was stunned nobody thought she would lose and it took time for her to get over the loss and get back in the gym. If she comes back and loses again, in my opinion, she wont have that same aura about her that she once had when she was champion. If she wants to win the title back she mainly needs to dominate the fight because the champion, Nunes is going to come out swinging with no regrets so if Rousey wants to win she needs to dominate.
