It is sad that we are living in a time where innocent people are being killed by law enforcement officers while the guilty are being treated nicely while still living their life.
First and foremost, let me say that this article I am writing may offend some (or many) people that are reading this.
It is also important to note that I am an African-American male and I do not apologize for what I am about to say.
Colin Kaepernick and other professional players protesting:
Many people are mad about Colin Kaepernick and other professional players protesting during the national anthem. I do not understand the controversy or anger towards Colin Kaepernick.
He did this to bring awareness to police brutality among African-Americans and other issues surrounding the African-American community. Kaepernick also did not like they way African-Americans are treated as second class citizens and wanted to create solutions to this ongoing problem.
In return he has received death threats, lost endorsements and has received the most disrespect. All for what, trying to raise awareness on the issue of police brutality?
Also, I have heard people say, "He is disrespecting the military and those who have helped serve this country."
Kaepernick has made it clear that he loves and respects the military and that this is no way aimed towards them. Matter of fact, various people in the military support Colin Kaepernicks protest. It is also important to know that the military fights for us to exercise our First Amendment rights.
My question to those who have so much anger and hostility towards Colin Kaepernick is. "What wrong has he done?"
If you are mad at Kaepernick for protesting and not mad at law enforcement officers for killing unarmed and innocent black men, you are the part of the problem that exists in the United States of America.
Black Lives Matter vs. All Lives Matter, Blue Lives Matter, etc. :
We all know everyone's life matter and life is precious. We also know that most African-Americans are losing their lives due to police brutality.
To say the phrase, "All Lives Matter" or "Blue Lives Matter" is disrespectful to me and other African-Americans.
It disrespectful because it shows most of white America does not care for a black person's life. It shows the lack of respect and class towards black people and other minorities.
These phrases did not start until the Black Lives Matter movement started. Does that tell you something?
If you are offended by Black Lives Matter but not offended by White, Blue or All Lives Matter, the word black offended you.
