My Take On "Finstas"

Just another way to hide behind the internet.

A "finsta" is a fake Instagram. A lot of teenagers and college students have been making second Instagram accounts to post pictures of them doing things that they would not normally post on the internet. I, personally, think that in most cases people are just finding another way to hide behind the internet. I am sorry if this offends anyone who has made one of these accounts, but I really hope this will make you consider a few things.

You realize people can still connect your "finsta" to your name, right? They can also see your profile picture so they can see who is really behind the fake account. This really is a weak attempt to hide behind the internet and even post inappropriate things. I do not get the point of posting a picture on one account and not the other. You might make the account private, but that only does so much.

The biggest problem though, is that if you feel that you cannot post a picture on your Instagram, why is it acceptable to post it on this fake account? If you are worried about posting it, I would take that into account. Especially if it is really inappropriate, just remember that it can be connected back to you even if your full name is not on the account.

The point of this article is just to remind people to be careful. I promise you aren't that cool if you are posting a ton of pictures of you drinking or smoking. If you are too afraid to put it on your regular Instagram account, maybe you shouldn't do it at all.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
