My Summer 2016 Bucket List

What are your plans for this summer?

Summer's are usually filled with joy, adventures, and the sweet smell of freedom!

Personally, I can't wait to crawl out from these library desks and out into the beautiful world that awaits. I deeply desire the sensation of those precious rays on my skin. I mean, how else would you truly enjoy summer without being outside 70% of the time?!

Although most of us are spontaneous with our summer plans, I have a few ideas of my own.

1. Visit the beach more than 10 times

Yes, I burn in the sun, but the tranquil environment is constantly calling my name, so I'll just slather on a heavy layer of sunscreen and I'll suck it up!

2. Visit New York City, Washington D.C., & Miami

These are the general East Coast hot spots for the summer. Everyone wants to explore and enjoy the gorgeous weather, so why not go to your favorite cities as well? Now, they aren't luxurious Caribbean resorts but these cities are populated with diverse individuals who bring a different flavor to each and every corner of their city. Make amazing memories that make you want to visit these places again (just don't go too crazy!).

3. Road trip to California

It has always been a dream of mine to travel with friends across the United States and stopping at each state that we pass. It is a perfect bonding and learning experience.

4. Visit most museums in NYC

I'm a huge History/English nerd so museums are where I belong. Whether it is the Museum of Modern Art or the Museum of Feelings, there is never a dull moment with me when it comes to visiting museums because I truly enjoy them and what they incorporate into their presentations. We should all learn to accept and appreciate various types of art and the artists behind them.

5. Sky diving

Yes, your Instagram photos are going to look incredible but the actual experience? INDESCRIBABLE.

6. Bungee Jumping

Just imagine the adrenaline! This is a life-threatening activity but who wouldn't want to experience the thrill that comes with it?!

7. Backpack through Europe

I know, I know! This seems clearly impossible, considering the amount of money we have already spent investing on other necessities throughout the year. However, let's not forget that everything is possible. It takes time and a little saving up. You don't need to stay at a five star hotel or eat at an extravagant meal, it is all about enjoying the simplistic attributes of the trip. Plan ahead and watch how easy this dream comes true. Safe travels!

8. Host a Bonfire

Who doesn't like gazing at the stars, s'mores, and ghost stories?

9. Hike the Poconos

I would like to become one with nature, so, the Poconos are a perfect spot to begin at. A serene environment is just what everyone needs to be around, especially after a stressful semester.

10. Visit the Bronx Zoo

I'm an animal lover. I absolutely adore the idea of visiting zoos and informing myself on the different types of species that make up this world. Perfect date idea too!

Now, most of my summer plans are not everyone's cup of tea; however, you can always adjust them to your wishes. As long as you make Summer '16 memorable, relaxing, and filled with great company, by all means, do as you please!

Enjoy your summer, stay safe, and remember to plan ahead on adventures. Don't miss out on what this world offers you. Step out of your comfort zone and live a little!

Congratulations on surviving another semester!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
