I am lucky. My younger sister and best friend are the same person.
I have a best friend who will go through the same life experiences by my side. I have somebody whom I can talk to constantly. I have somebody who finds humor in the same things that I do. I have somebody who understands me on a deeper level than anybody else who I know. Don’t get me wrong, our best-friend-sisterhood is not perfect. We steal each other’s clothes and fight for no reason at all. At the end of the day, I can always say that my sister is my best friend.
My sister says that we are best friends because we went through the same things and learned a lot about each other. I say that we are best friends because I admire her courage and maturity. It is probably a combination of the two. We have gone through the same family experiences, good and bad. Those events have brought us together. My sister is my friend because I admire her as a person. She is the strongest person I know and she is hilarious. I would consider her a role model, which is an important thing to look for in a friend. The reason behind our friendship is not as important as that we are friends. I am grateful for my wonderful relationship with my sister.
Throughout my high school experience, I grew closer to my sister. When it came time for me to leave for college, I knew that I was going to miss her. I worried that the we would not be as close to one another. Luckily, I have been proven wrong; we are closer than ever. We are constantly texting each other stories from our days and sending Snapchat-selfies with annoying facial expressions during classes. We can both agree that the only difference that college has brought to our relationship is that we miss each other more.
My sister and I have the best memories together. When we were in elementary school, we made up characters together. We would make up stories for those characters and act those stories out. The character creations turned into shopping and gossiping dates as we grew up. During the end of my junior year of high school, we started to share a room and somehow became even closer. We are lucky that we have maintained such a wonderful friendship throughout the years.
When people talk about their best friends, they talk about somebody who has remained by their side throughout their whole lives; somebody who they have grown up with. Sisters make the perfect best friends because sisters grow up together and usually stay by each other’s side. My sister and have grown up together and have stayed by each other’s side; my sister is my best friend.
