To My Sister For Life

Someone who is my sister without proof on the dotted line.

Dear Soul sister,

I am going to start this off by saying thank you. Thank you for everything you have do for me. For all the fun adventures we have had and those times when we would be driving to the beach, home from high school, or driving around doing random things and singing Taylor swift at the top of our lungs.

Those endless nights of staying up late giggling about random things, and talking about things that girls only talk about. How we know each others crushes, and giggled about how they looked at us once more than the usual zero times. How we would do each other's makeup and experiment with different makeup looks that we found on the internet because we were getting ready for prom.

Those times when we would have those heart to heart talks and only talk about girly things. How we always had each others back when it came to a loss at a field hockey game, when we had a grade that we were not to happy with, and each others shoulder to cry on. One memory that I remember was when I was failing chemistry our junior year, and a break up on top of it, and we were heading to field hockey practice and I just broke down. I remember crying and crying and you were right there for me and said just calm down and drink some water.

Then, shortly after we were laughing about something and you made me forget why I cried. We survived the elementary school struggles of the playground, and getting to the swings first and playing dodge ball with the guys and being able to kick the ball out of the park. We used to play jump rope and sing those rhymes to see who would be our future husband, when "Cinderella was dressed in yellow, went upstairs to kiss her fellow, how many kisses did she get?"

Fast forward five years and we walked through the halls of middle school. Where we went to our first school dance, when we had our own locker and we thought that was the coolest thing. When we went back to school shopping the number one school supply item was a locker mirror. After we survived middle school we entered the biggest uncharted hallways of all:high school.

We made it through freshmen year which entailed a few dates we went on, a few heartbreaks and our first high school football game. Then we made it through sophomore year when we had boyfriends at the same time, we discovered what makeup was and actually wore it a few times during the weeks and we couldn't wait to graduate. Junior year was of course well junior year when we were almost there and almost the top but still not seniority.

Then, before we knew it we were seniors. Our last year of WMHS Field hockey, our last pep rally, our last musical. Senior year also, of course, included PROM! taking you with me to find my prom dress was so important to me because I had to share that memory with you. Before we knew it we were getting in the limo and we had the time of our lives! Then we got out of the limo and right into cap and gown. When we tossed our caps in the air we were finally done. 12 years gone like that. Now we are in different states going to college and not within 5 minutes of each others house, but more like 4 hours. I can not believe how fast time has flown but no matter what, we are friends forever.

Sincerely,

Your Best Friend

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
