16 Reasons I'm Thankful For My Freshman Roommate Turned Best Friend

Life would be so dull without you.

I think everyone is weary of having their first college roommate. I know I was nervous! I thought I had to be my roommate's absolute BEST friend. I thought we had to hang out with each other every second of the day. I was wrong. That stuff doesn't always happen. I think my freshman year roommate, Violet, and I have become closer friends as of now (our junior year) rather than when we lived together. I'm so glad we became roommates three years ago. I decided to write this article about Violet because a) she asked me to write an article about her, and b) it's almost her birthday! Violet, here are some of the reasons why I am so glad we became roommates and friends!

1. You have the most interesting, random life ever. I love hearing about it.

2. The most outrageous things happen to you...

3. But you still keep a smile on your face.

4. You bought me a cute mug from TJMaxx just because.

5. You send the best snaps of you just being you (silly).

6. You introduced me to different teas.

7. You sometimes buy me coffee.

8. You get stressed out just like me, so I don't feel alone.

9. We had a Greatest Showman concert in your car.

10. You actually make an effort to hang out with me!

11. You were an awesome roomie!

12.  Even when you're having a bad day, you're always there for everyone else.

13. You were mad because you didn't get to see me cry my eyes out watching the plane crash episode of Grey's Anatomy.

14. You visited one of my go-to coffee shops with me on your way home!

15. You're not afraid to be real with people.

16. You give amazing hugs!

If you know Violet, I'm sure you'd agree with me on these things. Violet, I love you, friend! You're the best. I hope you like your article all about you. Happy Birthday!

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
