My Real-Life Jim Halpert

"Four years ago, I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl who had a boyfriend." -- Jim Halpert.

Why aren’t there more Jim Halperts in the world? Wow, if only. What would life be like?

Maybe, the world would be calm. Maybe, there would be more love and less hate. Maybe, we would, for once, be peaceful. Peaceful, loved, admired, cherished, and kind.

For those of you who don’t know, Jim Halpert is a lead character in a show called The Office. Jim is a salesman for Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in the small town of Scranton, Pennsylvania. In the beginning seasons of the show, he wears neutral-toned button-down shirts, pants, and ties with shaggy Justin Bieber-like hair. Yeah, not the most attractive-sounding guy. But, everything changes once he meets his future wife, Pam Beesley.

Pam Beesley is a receptionist for Dunder Mifflin. She had a crush on Jim, (he secretly had one on her, too) but the timing was always off. She was engaged, Jim was single. Jim got a girlfriend, Pam broke the engagement. It seemed like it was never meant to be.

But eventually, Jim and Pam realized that they had truly loved each other all along and got married, had kids, and did everything together. They even pranked Dwight sometimes.

So, I have an answer to my question; there are Jim Halperts in the world. I know one in particular: my passionate, talented, loving, caring, and undeniably handsome boyfriend of three years, two months, and 10 days, Caleb.

Caleb has a heart that I can only describe as being that of a lion’s. He is fearless. He sets goals for himself and accomplishes them, and if he doesn’t accomplish them, he tries and tries again until he has no failure. His passion for life is shown through his successes—he is the type of person who never gives up. Jim did not give up on Pam. Not once.

My life feels incomplete without Caleb by my side. He is like the sun shining after a storm—he knows when something isn’t right and what I need in order to be happy. He does things without my request, such as buying me lunch or giving me a call when I’ve had a bad day. He is the Jim to my Pam—inseparable.

But most of all, Caleb is the person I can be most silly with—I can be myself. We quote SpongeBob daily, walk around parks, college campuses, and shopping malls while trying to catch legendary Pokémon, and talk about how excited we are to go to Disney World this Spring Break. He is the one I can do everything with while not worrying about having fun, ever.

So, while unfortunately Jim Halpert doesn’t exist, my version does. He has cute, little spikey hair, a smile that could make everyone smile, and a personality that is like no other. He is Caleb Besaw. He is mine.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
