11 Reasons Why I Couldn't Survive Without My Planner

Just your average college girl, who has a Type A personality, writing about how much she loves her planner. In all seriousness however, if I did not have my planner with me most of the time, I don't know how I would survive. Here are 11 reasons why I couldn't survive without my planner.

1. My whole school life is in it.

From my 9:30 a.m. class to my 2:30 p.m class, everything about each one is in there. I only write down each one of my assignments, but others use different colored pens or highlighters to lay out their classes in the their planner. It is important to us. It is vital to us, and to our survival.

2. My to-do lists, they are in there too.

To-do lists save lives, plan and simple. For those of us who rely heavily on them, there is no way we could get through without them. We have them everywhere, from our room to our gym lockers to our planners. I use the days in my planner I won't use during the academic year to make my to-do lists, which has proven to be very useful.

3. It holds my work schedule.

Forget what time I'm working? Check my planner. Change my shift? Check my planner.

4. My free time is written in big letters in my planner.

You know, because being busy will consume you if you don't write down when you are going to do something fun.

5. Sacred coffee dates? Yeah, they are written in there.

COFFEE IS LIFE. DRINKING IT WITH MY FRIENDS IS LIFE. IT HAS TO BE IN THE PLANNER.

6. My reminders to post on social media for my campus organization is in there.

I love the campus organization that I run the social media for. College is very busy with school, family, a social life and organizations, so I write down when to post in my planner to keep myself accountable.

7. My friends' birthdays are in there.

I have a pretty good memory, so I usually remember their birthdays. I write them down anyway, just in case their birthday sneaks up on me.

8. I use the Notes pages.

Some people don't utilize the notes pages. They can be used from to-do lists (again so important) to just a place to jot down a phone number or address quickly.

9. I also use the yearly calendars.

There are yearly calendar's for 2 years into the future in most planners. They are wonderful.

10. I rely on the list of holidays that are in it.

It is good to be able to look and see when certain holidays are, both federal and religious based.

11. My planner brings me comfort, especially when I get to cross things off in it.

Completing something that I write down my planner calls for celebrating and grabbing my red pen out of my backpack to cross the completed item out.

Having my planner with me most of time brings me comfort. If someone asks me a question about my schedule, I can look in it and I know what I have going on in the future. I wouldn't say that I'm obsessed with my planner, or that it's attached to me at the hip, but it is important to me. So, here's to everyone who loves there planner as much as they love their favorite food, favorite animal, or even significant other. Planners rock.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
