It wasn't my imagination

Ah, the good old paranormal or ghost sighting that strikes up debates whether it's real or fake. I believe in the paranormal ever since I was exposed to ghost videos and shows. However, I will be sharing my personal paranormal experience where I saw the ghost of my grandmother who passed away 3 years ago.

A bit of context to this story is that my grandmother suffered a stroke in 2015 and, unfortunately, after the stroke, she had more health issues and started to have problems with her legs and was in constant pain. Eventually, the pain and other health issues brought on by the stroke and her legs led to her passing.

Losing my grandmother was tough, as I would never be able to have her in my life to be proud of me and to one day be able to buy her gifts. I would never be able to see her in person again, as the last time I saw her in person was when I was younger. We had only communicated through phone calls. Fast-forward to Fall 2016, I was home alone during the evening and working on a paper for my ENG 101 class. I was deep in thought and typing when I noticed something bright in the corner of my eye. I noticed this bright white apparition of a female person whose back was towards me. The female ghost had an extremely long braid with a bow, wearing a dress. I remained in shock as I was taken aback by this ghost apparition that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and was right outside my room and in the kitchen. I didn't know what to say or do so, I stayed silent as I watched this ghost walk a few more steps before vanishing right in front of my eyes. This all happened in about 10 seconds but to me, but it felt longer, as if time slowed down.

After watching this ghost disappear, I remained quiet as I tried to contemplate what I had just witnessed. I was thinking to myself who it could have been, and the only thought I could think of was my deceased grandmother. So, I decided to wait for my mom to come home and ask about how my grandmother looked to see if there was a connection to the ghost. As soon as my mother came home, I asked her "Did my grandmother have long hair that was braided with a bow?" She responded and said, "Yeah. She had extremely long hair that was in a braid with a bow when she was younger". I immediately told her of what I saw and she was surprised but her expression was of sadness and her reply was "She came to watch over us".

Looking back at it now, I believe it was my grandmother's ghost appearing to say a final goodbye to me before she departed the world to the other side. To this day, the moment has stuck with me and is something I'll never forget.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
