My Opinion On Makeup

Makeup or no makeup? What does it really change?

My Opinion On Makeup

I think we can all agree that the power of makeup is just freakishly amazing, in a good way obviously. In my understanding, makeup is a tool used to enhance a person’s features, both facial and body. Although I may have a more than positive opinion on makeup, some other people believe that using makeup makes one seem “fake,” seeing as the natural features of the person are being enhanced or covered up. Therefore, they do not support the use of makeup, or they harbor disapproving thoughts towards people who use makeup. You are not in the wrong if you like having a perfectly contoured face, “on-fleek” eyebrows, or the perfect winged eyeliner. The point is that whether or not you view the use of makeup as a “bad thing” or “not a bad thing," the phenomenal power of transformation that makeup has cannot go unacknowledged because it is simply mind-blowing.

People who use make up all have different reasons why they do. Using makeup in the morning before I leave my room really just depends on if I feel like it, or if I have enough time to put it on (because sometimes I wake up thirty minutes before my class and there’s just no way). A couple of months ago I could not leave my house without using make up and this was because I was insecure about my facial imperfections. Makeup didn’t take them away but covering them up did make me feel more confident. People say that your imperfections and flaws are what make you unique and beautiful and I completely agree with this, but I also like the extra confidence boost that using make up gives me. I guess that is what some people do not realize; that makeup does not just change the way you look, it also changes the way you feel. You don’t have to have any insecurities or facial imperfections to use or want to use make up. You can love the way your face looks naturally and still use makeup if you feel like it. You can have a spotless and smooth face (still waiting for this), long eyelashes and naturally “on-fleek” eyebrows and still use make up. It is not wrong.

Also, in case you didn’t know this, makeup really is an art and an excellent form of expression. To all the makeup artists in the game, both professional and non-professional, and basically anyone who knows what they are doing when they pick up an eyeliner pen, kudos to you all! I know that if I was able to “beat my face to the gods” like this,

I would be very proud of myself. It’s not a joke, being able to do this is pure talent. I personally just think it’s so amazing how everything comes together in the end and looks so beautiful. Whenever I watch my roommate do her makeup I’m always in awe. Halfway through the process, her face looks like an artists’ palette with concealer under her eyes, in the middle of her nose, kind of like this:

Basically looking like a crazy person. And then all of a sudden, boom.

That, my dear friends is pure skill.

But as we all know, everything in life must be done in moderation. In addition, I'm still an amateur in the makeup game, but I wouldn't be where I am now without YouTube tutorials! For anyone who wants to learn, here is a makeup tutorial video by beauty and fashion blogger Bella Amu to guide you. Enjoy!

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
