Dear fat women,
You deserve better. I wish I could end my letter here but I am required to write a few more words, so let me elaborate. You deserve so much better than what society has to offer you. As if your size being the butt of jokes and not being able to find clothes isn't enough.
Perhaps you've gotten sick of only a few racks at Forever 21. ME FUCKING TOO! I mean, I don't actually shop at F21 but I know the struggle. I understand having to go to the weird little abandoned part of the store to find anything that MIGHT be in my size. You deserve better. You deserve affordable, stylish and comfortable clothes that allow us to be us.
And what the heck is up chairs? AND SMALL SPACES. Like have you gotten stuck in a turnstile or had to sit very uncomfortably in a chair that your hips don't fit into? Yeah, me too. It sucks!
Also, is it too much to ask for fat representation in media? Fat women deserve to be casted as more than the chill, forever hungry best friend that never has a love interest. Fat women, you are deserving of love, of extensive and accurate representation.
Have you ever had a shitty experience at the doctors? Did a "professional" automatically attribute any or all of your ailments to your size, without actually attempting to diagnose you? Yeah, I know. I've been there. I've had doctors tell me my periods last too long because of recent weight gain. It took 3 different doctors to diagnose me with PCOS. A closer look into symptoms I described to my doctors, could very easily have saved my ovaries.
Here is my message to you fat women: YOU DESERVE BETTER. Your size should not be treated as a burden. You shouldn't be encouraged to change our bodies and you should be taken seriously when you complain of pain or discomfort. Forge space for yourselves in society because you are important, you are worthy of comfort and health!
Stay lovely,
Michael
