My Ode to Fall

As I sit here in the sun, watching the leaves fall around me, sipping my chai tea latte, I hope you find yourself playing in a pile of leaves, or appreciating the new colors all around you.

My Ode to Fall

Fall is the most beautiful time of the year. It makes me think of so many comforting things -- hats, scarves, boots, leaves, snuggling, coffee. My favorite kind of day is when it is sunny and beautiful out yet, there is a nip in the air, I am bundled up in a sweater and scarf, wearing my favorite coat and boots. The leaves are falling and everything is so colorful and beautiful.

When I think of fall I think of going to my brother’s football games with my mom and dad, bundled up drinking pumpkin spice lattes from the sidelines. I think of Thanksgiving with my family and then the slide into Christmas. Fall is the beginning of such wonderful things!

Fall brings pumpkins back into our lives, colored leaves, and hay rides! Fall brings warm beverages and the comfort of fireplaces and cozy blankets. Fall brings movie nights and game nights with friends. Fall brings pumpkin carving and pumpkin seeds!

I love the crunch of leaves under my boots while I walk to class. I like photo shoots in the leaves with friends. Fall inspires me and makes me feel artsy. After fall arrives and the weather gets colder we must say goodbye to fall and hello to winter, where the days seem long, cold and lonely. It makes us wishing for spring and the happiness and newness that it brings. But appreciate fall while it is here because with it brings joy and creativity. It allows you to become a thriftier and fashionista with your scarves, sweaters, and coats. You really can’t go wrong.

As I sit here in the sun, watching the leaves fall around me, sipping my chai tea latte, I hope you find yourself playing in a pile of leaves, or appreciating the new colors all around you. I hope you go pick out pumpkins with friends, bring them home to carve and bake their seeds. Watch a movie and cuddle under a blanket while you sip apple cider because fall brings joy and warmth, and with it so many memories.

Take a walk in the park with those you love listen to the crunch of the leaves under your feet and enjoy what fall brings. I hope you feel inspired and creative. I hope you see all that you are blessed with. Read a book by the fire, do something just for fun, because sometimes life is too short to worry about our to do lists. Watch football games with friends, eat hot wings, enjoy the most out of life.

Go get a seasonal drink from your favorite coffee shop and watch the people go by. Talk to someone new sitting near you. I hope you grow to love fall as much as I do and you fully experience all that it has to offer. Eat popcorn and caramel apples, candy corn and start thinking about trick-or-treating because fall is the best time of year.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
