I've never been one for making resolutions, because let's be honest — who keeps them?
I hope to change that mentality this year. I want to be a better person physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. I want to live every day as if it's my last.
Here's to 2017. I want to:
1. Go off the grid.
I need to stop taking my cell phone to the dining halls, stop checking it in the middle of class, and stop waiting for the ding that signals a new notification.
2. Say thank you more often and mean it.
I often feel like I say thank you out of necessity. I do it because I know it’s right, whether I mean it or not. I want to say it more and I want to mean it. I want to be more thankful for what life has given me.
3. Take more photos.
This might seem like it contradicts the first resolution, but everything is okay in moderation. I don't want to live my life through a screen, but I want to have memories to look back on someday.
4. Eat healthier.
I know, I know. Everyone adds this to their list of resolutions, and most people fail. I’m not saying I want to go vegan or anything, just maybe cut back on the dining hall ice cream. Maybe.
