What a year it has been. It went by so fast. Like all teachers say, "this is a challenging time." This year will go in our textbook, and our grandkids will learn about this "wonderful year" (big emphasis on the quote). Many lives have been lost, but many lives have been saved. It was also the year the BLM movement flourished. Also, the year where America has elected the leader of the most powerful country in the world. A Lot has occurred. During the pandemic, I tried to make myself busy. During the summer, I took online classes for my enjoyment( learn about neuroanatomy and a tiny amount of Russian). But I also learned how to study better, and I got good grades. As the saying goes, "New year, new me," and I like to improve myself.
1) While I was mentally productive, I wasn't physically productive. I may have taken morning runs but not enough to challenge my body. I ate a lot and just been lazy, and that affected my health. Therefore I want to change myself. However, to lose weight, I have to start with small goals. One is having a morning run every day and do some exercises along the way. I'll do enough to challenge myself to the limit but enough that I don't burn myself out. Another goal is not to spend money on snacks. This way, I could lose weight and save up money. The only time I may get a snack is on special occasions, such as achieving something. I love my body; therefore, if I love it, I need to take care of it.
2) In the past, my dream was to read every book in the entire world. This dream is impossible not only because more books are being made than humans, but also because I may not understand all of them. Of course, I enjoy reading, but the reason I made the big goal is to be the smartest person in the room. The more books I read, the more intelligent I am than everyone. That's vanish of me, and I want to change it. I learn a lot from reading but what is funny is that my writing and speaking skills have not improved. That's why I'm so bad at essays. When reading, I will enjoy the book even more if I analyze it and also will need to take a moment to understand what is going on instead of speed reading. The same thing goes for school; I can't just read the textbook five times and hope I get a good grade; Maybe on rare occasions, it can work, but it is more efficient only to read once or twice. That can be achieved if I annotate ( in the book or a loose-leaf), create a summary of what I read, and recall the information.
3) I need to practice more stoicism. Let nature take its course. I can't worry all the time. It isn't healthy. Stress is beneficial in the right circumstances, such as during a test or if I am running away from a bear. But I cannot stay stress or sad all the time; I need to take deep breaths to have chill vibes. One way I could achieve that is to meditate and also work on my 1st resolution. Also, I cannot compare myself to others. I have lovely friends who get better grades than me. But if I compare myself to them, it's going to drive me crazy. I always tell myself," This is not a race; I need to take my time" .
If you have a low gpa, stop comparing yourself to others, try to work hard, and focus. The same thing goes for people with high gpa. You can't show off your grade to everyone. Look, I get it you want to show your 4.0 gpa to everyone. You want everyone to see your great accomplishment. It is a great accomplishment that will lead you to a bright future, however, not everyone is like you; in your class, some people are doing lower than you. And next time you get a low grade like a 90, keep in mind someone may have gotten a lower grade than you )
These 3 resolutions cannot be made all at once. I must complete them step by step and also cannot rush it. I need to take my time. These goals may change during these twelve months, and that's ok. The only important thing I need to do is keep my head up high and move forward thru 2021.
