The other day while walking to class, the song "Somebody's Hero" by Jamie O'Neal came on Pandora. The song is about how much the singer loves her mother and their relationship over the years. It is an older song and I have heard it so many times, but for some reason, that day it just got me feeling a little bit more emotional. It could have been the fact that I was just having a bad day, or just simply missing my mom. I just started my second year of college, no matter how much older you get, you will always grow to appreciate and even sometimes miss her. My mom and I have always been very close, she is my role model, and not ashamed to admit that she my best friend.
As we grow up and go through this crazy thing called life, we hold on to our inspirations and motivators. A hero is someone that inspires you to do your best, someone that you an look up to and someone that truly understands you.
I am not ashamed by any means, My mom is my hero. She is my mentor, my rock and my support system. A mother's love is rare and wonderful; nothing can replace the space that fills our hearts. She has been nothing but influential and the center of my universe. She never fails to force a smile on my face and inspire me to be the best person I can be.
Mom, I want you to know that I am so thankful to have you in my life. I only hope to be half the woman that you are and I’d like to dedicate this to you for being the strongest and most incredible woman I know.
She sacrifices her time for me.
Perhaps there are times of frustration our moms go through, but give them a break. All they want is the very best for you. My mother is a professionals at multitasking, she juggles her problems, work and being there for my family at all times. She's the person that will wake up before dawn to make breakfast and go to sleep well past sunset just to make sure I'm home and in bed safe. She's the person when I am having a panic attack in the library at 1 am that I can call. Even though they’re tired, she still manages to go about the day with a smile on her face.
She loves me unconditionally.
No matter what I do, what mistakes I make, what I say, or how much I upset her, her love for me will never subside. It will always be unconditional. We live in a world where sometimes we don’t realize how hurtful our words can be. Although she might take it to heart when I tell her I don't need help with something. She is still going to love you no matter what. Let’s face it, she puts up with my crap. No matter how big the fight or disagreement, I can always count on her to resolve the issue. Open your heart and drop the resentments because your mom would much rather hug it out and put it in the past. Her smile is contagious and you can’t help but cave in when you see it.
I could possibly write a novel about how blessed I am to call my mom, mom. All in all, I love my mom to death. she is my hero and who I want to be when I grow up.
Thank you mom, for being everything to me, always.
