Some think that superheroes aren't real, but when I look at my mom I know that she is one.

Mom,

You are the reason I am on this earth, you carried me inside you and formed a bond that will never be broken. You have sacrificed a lot to ensure I have had all that I have ever needed and more and trust me I know that.

I don't think there will ever be words to describe my love for you, or how appreciative I am that you are here, but I will never stop trying to show my love and appreciation.

You amaze me each and every day with how much you do and how you seemingly never miss a beat. You are my absolute best friend. My go to for advice, my favorite shopping partner, and the person who makes me laugh the most.

This world has become so full of hate and violence, but you never fail to make it all seem worth living still. Whatever pain I encounter I see that you feel it too and you don't give up on helping me feel better. You never make me feel alone, but instead you shower me with love, support, guidance, and most importantly you empower me to reach for the stars and not to stop there.

You have done so much for me for my whole life, some things I will never be able to repay you for, but I will try. You hold me up when life is pushing me down, and you make me a better person.

I am on this earth because you carried me until I was ready to live, I am the woman I am because of the strength and love you showed me while raising me, and I am your best friend because no one in this world even compares to you.

To the world you may be just a mom, but mom, to me you are the world. I am so beyond appreciative for you and love you more than I can ever communicate. Thank you for being so special and being my mom.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
