WARNING!!!! Spoilers will be briefly mentioned
So, La La Land made its debut over a month ago, and I finally got the chance to see it this past weekend. To be precise, I saw it twice. In fact, I developed an obsession within the first few minutes actually.
I had no clue of what to actually write about while listening to the soundtrack on repeat since Friday night. The immediate thought to write about La La Land hit, especially after watching a video by Dodie Clark, who happens to be a fantastic singer and YouTuber (SN: she actually made a cover to a City of Stars which happens to be my favorite song from the movie.) where she spoke about why she loves La La Land so much.
I'll keep this short and simple but here we go!
La La Land.... an extremely relatable heartbreaking love story, shows the struggles of an artist aiming to follow their dreams in two stories which connect to one. A story of love, a story of hopes and dreams, and a story of struggle.
There were so many themes in La La Land, so you just have to watch and see.
The fashion was so adorably LA. The color blocking, the casual everyday-ness, but yet oh so musical. Emma Stone's very cute haircut that is so simple and versatile to every look, Ryan Goslings gelled back hair and light scruff that every girl loves and most guys want, the classic demure style of Emma's character Mia, and the tribute to the early 50's fashion. ALL OF IT... obsessed.
The music was amazing. Like I mentioned my favorite song is "City of Stars", I can't decide which one yet, there are 2 versions; one where it's just Ryan and a duet with Emma, both of which are amazing, My favorite line from the song is "who knows, is this the start of something wonderful and new or one more dream that I cannot make true". But the music of the movie is absolutely wonderful and then there's, of course, the beginning of the opening song in the movie which is called "Another Day of Sun", The piano piece to it makes me so happy and gives me goosebumps.
Hmm... What else can I say? OH, UM there's a scene farther into the movie where you see the entire story from a different perspective which had me all teary-eyed and it's definitely one of my favorite parts in the entire film.
But honestly I think I'll leave it at that. Short and simple huh? SIKE! Haha. Anyways if you guys have seen it and have any opinions on the film. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THEM AND DISCUSS THE FILM WITH YOU
