My Last Semester Of College According to Indiana Jones

"Those people are trying to kill us!"

My Last Semester Of College According to Indiana Jones

This semester is starting out really strong as most of you have found out by now. From the beginning of classes to rush week for fraternities, it has certainly started out as a busy time for everybody so far. There is no one better to show my emotions regarding this semester so far than Indiana Jones. From the inability to deal with an unexpected situation that pops up to the need to just take a second and relax sometimes, Dr. Jones has often been my spirit animal when comes to my everyday emotions, so here, for your enjoyment and my personal guidance, is my last semester according to Indiana Jones.

1. When you start to pick out your classes before the semester begins.

Making sure that you have every class that you need so that you can graduate on time is a big a struggle, as is trying to steal an idol from a South American tomb.

2. When somebody tries to tell you that a class is going to be hard, but you don't listen.

When it comes to difficulty in classes, you're a senior. You have seen everything that this university can throw at you. Nothing could possible be worse than that intensive writing course that you took junior year. Nothing.

3. When you get to your first day of classes and you try to figure out what the professor is saying.

One of the biggest struggles during the first few days of classes is trying to follow what the professor is saying. This can be extra-difficult during syllabus week, when the professor decides to teach actual course material.

4. When you get into a class with your favorite professor and someone else tries to act like they know the professor better.

We all have that one professor (your "ride or die," if you will) who is the only reason you are still attempting to graduate. So when you can have a class with them during your senior year, it is basically a huge sigh of relief. So when somebody tries to get on the same level as you, it is obviously time to put them in their place. No first name basis for you you, call him, "Doctor," and nothing else.

5. When a professor tells you that you need to buy their books for the class.

I mean, you want me to pay for books that I can easily find online thanks to Google? No, thank you. I mean, "Leviathan," by Thomas Hobbes... yeah, I'll just find the transcript online, thanks.

6. When the professor tells you that there is a cumulative paper to work on all semester.

I mean, look here, I came here for my last few credit hours that I need to graduate and finish my major and minor. That did not originally entail a semester-long paper that will end up consuming what remaining free time I have left during this time in my life. I mean, can we just skip this part of class...

7. Then you realize that you have to do rush week for your fraternity while trying to stay on top of your classes for the week and juggle an internship at the same time.

Look, the biggest challenge that pops up during the beginning of the semester is trying to find that correct balance between the different aspects of your life, so that you can finish out that last semester strong. However, at the beginning, having to juggle social, school, and a work life can be a whole new challenge, even for seniors.

8. Actually having to go through that week is a lot different than preparing for it though.

After the first day, I felt like a chicken with its head cut off. Running around at my internship to make sure that I could be as helpful and gain as much experience as possible, then having to run to class and make sure that all of your work is done so you could run to help with your fraternities rush events so that you can help to create one of the most successful rush weeks so far? Yeah, definitely feels like someone is trying to kill me.

9. Finally getting a chance to breathe and relax after all the hell you have been through over the past week and a half.

Yeah, I am just gonna sit here with my hat and take a nap. No, I have nothing left to do, schoolwork or otherwise. Yes, I am too lazy to even get out of my clothes to take a nap. Just gimme five minutes and I'll be good, I promise. K, thanks bye.

10. But the best feeling in the world is knowing that this is your last semester and you are almost done with the four years that you have put into your university.

Even though your college years are some of the best times of your life, in the end, it has to come to a close, like everything else that happens in your life. So, in the end, being able to come from the experience with a lot of experience, personal wisdom, some lifelong friends, and a degree to top it all off, there really isn't much more you can ask for than that.

Honorable Mention: All of the feels that crash down on you once you realize that the life that you have in college is coming to an end a lot of the people that you see now might not be there as much once you graduate.

Pretty self-explanatory here. Don't mind me, I'll just be over here trying to hold in my tears as I try to forget about the future.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
