It might sound cliche when I say this, but Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year! There are so many different elements of the holiday season that make Christmas so special. Here are 16 things on my bucket list that I will look forward to completing before the holiday season is over.

1. Hanging Decorations

Hanging up Christmas decorations inside and outside the house makes me so happy especially when I'm doing it with the people I love the most. It's such a great way to start up feelings of the holidays. The best part though is when we put up the Christmas tree and decorate it with ornaments.

2. Watch Christmas Movies

I have to say that one of my all time favorite movies would have to be The Polar Express. From the soundtrack to the characters, in my opinion, the movies captures the true essence of Christmas.

3. Make A Christmas Playlist

If I'm being truly honest, I have been thinking about making a Christmas playlist since September. It's strange, but that's when I start thinking about Christmas and, in a way, what is Christmas without Christmas music?

4. Family Drive to See Other Neighborhood Decorations

After decorating your house, you always have the feeling of wanting to take a step back to admire your work and how it all came together. But one thing I have always wanted to do is drive around my neighborhood for the sole purpose of appreciating the work of other houses and the way their families came together and worked hard to put up their lights.

5. Roast Marshmallows and Hot Chocolate

I don't know any one who doesn't like s'mores or hot chocolate And although my family and I drink hot chocolate every year during the holidays, it's still something I look forward to every year.

6. Family Slumber Party Under the Christmas Tree

Now, this is something my family and I have never done, but I have always wanted to lay down under the tree and look up at the Christmas lights. And since it's too cold to just sit outside and look up at the stars (which is something my dad and I like to do in during the warmer weather), this is more of a Christmas version of that.

7. Make DIY Christmas Decorations

All my life, I've loved making little arts and crafts, and there's no better time for DIY's that during the Christmas holiday.

8. Ice-Skating

In the past, whenever it came to ice-skating, I've always had terrible balance. But even though I can't skate for my life, I would love to go ice-skating again because I'd love to glide over the ice for at least a whole minute before falling.

9. Spend Time with Extended Family

There is nothing better than spending time with family. That is something that I will always say because, no matter what, family will always be there and it's the most important thing to do. They will be the most important people in my life.

10. Bake Cookies

Between My mom and I, we love to bake, though she usually does more of the baking and I do more of the icing, but in the end it is a team effort and whatever we bake always comes out great.

11. Wear an Ugly Christmas Sweater

I still have yet to wear an ugly Christmas sweater, but I will make it my mission to wear one this year. Even if it means making it myself.

12. Make Snow Angels and Snowmen

Every year before shoveling the snow, we take the time to enjoy it and make snow angels and snowmen. And even though it may make me look like a giant kid, it's still fun and my family and I still enjoy it.

13. Dress Up in Fancy Holiday Clothing

Yes, dressing up can be a hassle at times, but I still love it, especially during the holidays. I loving picking out different outfits for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years - which leads me to the next item on the bucket list.

14. Have a Tiny Family Party

Dressing up for a small family party. I've always wanted to pick a day before Christmas where my parents, brothers and I have a small little party amongst ourselves where we sit, chat, eat, and dance to holiday music.

15. Go See The Big Tree in the City

Taking a trip to the city is always nice, but seeing the huge Christmas tree all lit up makes it extra special.

16. Sit by the Fire

Sometimes it's nice to just take a break from everything and just sit by a fire with a cup of that hot chocolate, sitting next to the family. Sometimes that's all you need.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
