My Heart Hurts Over Social Injustice

But it doesn't have to.

My Heart Hurts Over Social Injustice
Bob Richards

My heart hurts.

My heart hurts for Philando Castile and Alton Sterling. It is so crazy to me that someone who was not causing trouble can be shot for no reason.

My heart hurts for the 10 police officers in Dallas, and all police officers. Not all police officers should be punished for someone’s racist thoughts and power hunger.

My heart hurts for the Black Lives Matter movement. There shouldn't have to be a movement for something that should be common knowledge.

My heart hurts for the ignorance of the All Lives Matter movement. When you say this, you only silence the oppressed. The Black Lives Matter movement does not disvalue other races, it promotes the equality for all people.

My heart hurts for anyone who has ever felt oppressed. I am sorry that you do not feel safe in a country where you are free to be anything you desire.

My heart hurts for people who die everyday because of the color of their skin, their sexual preference, their religion, a disability, or anything else that makes them different.

My heart hurts for the people who are privileged and do not realize it. Please observe the news and take a look at your opportunity.

My heart hurts for anyone that has been victimized by violence. Whether you reported it or not, your hurt matters to me.

My heart hurts for women and men who have experienced any sexual mistreatment and has to be told that their is not enough evidence to prove that it happened. I am sorry.

My heart hurts for the current condition of my country. I have never been less proud to be an American.

My heart hurts for the children in our country who do not understand why the world is such a bad place. It doesn't get any better.

My heart hurts for the nation as our fate lies in the hands of either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. May God bless our future.

My heart hurts for the people who believe that they can change the country, but are the underdog due to our rigged political system.

My heart hurts for any kind of relationship that is broken up because of what a person believes in.

My heart hurts when I look at my Facebook and I see my friends say that if I don't believe in what they believe in that they will delete me.

My heart hurts for the person who is afraid to express their opinions on issues because they are scared of other people's reactions. I am sorry that you feel that your opinion doesn't mean anything, because it does

Please stop mine and everyone else whose heart is hurting. Let us please love on another. Let us be equal. Let us be human.

To those who celebrate, you just spent an entire day cooking an elaborate meal with all of your favorite foods. You probably ate your body weight in pumpkin pie and mashed potatoes. What happens now? 18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
