My Graduates Prayer

To all the graduating college seniors: this one's for you.

My Graduates Prayer

Graduation is coming so fast. It’s natural to feel the fear of adulthood knocking at your doorstep. Constant thoughts run through your head about whether you chose the right career, if you’ll love the work you’ll be doing for at least the next 50 years, or even if you’ll get offered a position right out of college.

Maybe for the first time, you’re going to have responsibility, annual income, and maybe even bills to pay. Eventually, you’ll need to move out of your parents’ house so you can get your own place. Let’s not even get started on your love life. Let's be real, growing up is hard enough without having to make someone actually like you for a really long time.

The thing is though; it’s all a part of life. Trusting God, family support, and vent sessions with your closest friends are the most important things in a smooth transition such as this one. Granted this is a big deal, but not as big of a deal as Ron Burgundy. You can do this even though it's not going to be easy.

You get to start your own path. For as long as you can remember, you have been trying to be what others want you to be whether those influences are your parents, your friends, your siblings, etc.

Once your name is read as you walk across that stage to grab your ticket to the next chapter, your journey begins.

My prayer for the students all over the world graduating college with me this year is to find their own place in this world, find their own path, and find who they want to be. I know that sounds completely like a Taylor Swift song, but "I'm just trying to find a place in this world". Get it? I know; I'm funny. This is your time to live your life. Is it going to be hard? Absolutely. Are you going to have to go through those times alone? Never. Find your happiness. Find your joy. Find your path. The best part about finding yourself and your path is: only you can be your own personal copyright, and nobody else can replicate your journey through this life.

Happy graduation year! Enjoy each and every second of it, and everything that follows after.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
