My generation has been accused of many things: being self-centered, disobedient, uncaring, unmotivated, hopeless. After an experience like the one I just had at Passion 2017, I can assure you that I found my generation to be none of those things. Instead, I found my generation to be Christ-centered, obedient, full of care, motivated, and hopeful. My generation is not dead. Would you like to know why?
I was surrounded by 55,000 college-aged students who have found their hope in Jesus Christ. Passion 2017 brought together 55,000 students together for a conference of revival, a challenge of endurance, a command for God to be our desire, and a confirmation that we are immeasurable in the eyes of God. I met people with a fire for the gospel to be spread.
We have realized that to live is Christ and to die is gain. I saw countless people completely amazed by the presence of God in the Georgia Dome. Many people gave their life to Christ and accepted the sacrifice that Jesus paid on the cross for us. Isn't that awesome that MY generation, the generation that is found to be lazy and messed up, has found our worth in the eyes of Christ? And better yet, many of us know that it is our job to spread the message that Jesus came to save the world.
So, please don't tell me that my generation is dead until you see how devoted we are to seeking Christ. Don't tell me that my generation is dead until you stand with us to worship. Please don't tell me that my generation is dead until you listen to our words of hope and love. Don't tell me that my generation is dead until you know that we sponsored over 5,000 children in need. Please don't tell me that my generation is dead until you catch our vision for bringing the gospel to the nations. Don't tell me that my generation is dead until you realize that we depend on Christ for our present and our future. Please don't tell me that my generation is dead until you experience the redemption that the cross brought to each and every one of us.
I know that my generation is more than the stereotypes.
Praise God.
My generation is alive.
