My Friend Is An Enigma That I Love Not Being Able To Figure Out

A poem about my friend S, who just in a matter of months has become one of my closest friends.

My friend S is an enigma.

He is so smart, yet he stresses when he doesn't understand a small detail.

He is so nice to talk to, but he will never give his personal opinion.

He is so quiet, yet when it comes to money, he can't help but say "how much is that?"

He is so reluctant to speak up but always seems to utter "sure umm okay."

He is so funny, yet he always seems to make the joke unintentionally.

He is so friendly, yet he struggles to communicate his true feelings.

He is so social on WeChat, yet when we meet IRL, he doesn't have anything to say.

He is so shy, but yet he asked me to take photos of him smiling. I know deep inside he is happy.

He is so school focused, yet he takes his day to help me write this poem about him.

He is so artistic, yet when I ask him for a picture, he says "ahhh, I don't know if any is great."

He is so analytical, but yet when I ask him is this poem okay, he says "um sure it's fine I guess."

He is so helpful as he sits beside me when I write this, yet when I ask him for his thoughts,

He once again replies "umm sure its okay."

My friend S is a collection of conundrums, yet I know in my mind he will always have a place, and I only hope for the same.

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?
