My First Vacation To The Happiest Place On Earth

My First Trip To DisneyWorld

What do you think of when you hear or see something that says the "Happiest Place On Earth" ? Do you think of something you've done? Somewhere you've been? Most people, including me, think of DisneyWorld, DisneyLand, or just Disney in general. I took my first trip to DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida in 2005 when I was 11 years old. I went with my cousin DJ, his dad, which is my uncle, and his mom, which is my aunt. I was so excited. We explored The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.

Me and my cousin were very little back then, and walked around but most of the time, got pushed in a Disney provided stroller. Magic Kingdom was so beautiful and being able to see the castle. Being surrounded by people who were just as happy to see this place as I was. In Animal Kingdom, we went to go see "It's A Bug's Life 3D", a bug ended up poking the back of my seat and I screamed, rode on a tour boat and saw different animals, took a picture with some extinct creatures, preferably Jurassic Park dinosaurs ;) Animal Kingdom was such a great exposure to nature and its beauty and the animals created under God's image. We explored different parks each day and went on rides and coasters that were suitable for us. We saw Disney's "Fantasmic" one night as well. "Fantasmic" is a nighttime show at the following Disney parks: Disneyland in the Disneyland Resort, Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, and Tokyo DisneySea in the Tokyo Disney Resort; and it all consists of fireworks, real actors, water effects, music, decorated boat floats, and screen projections.

We also visited Epcot's World Showcase; the different countries of DisneyWorld, saw different bands and listened to all styles of music, met Dr. Seuss's Thing 1 and Thing 2 From "The Cat In The Hat", Sam-I-Am from "Green Eggs And Ham" and so much more. I have a photo book of everything; but I'm currently 18 and I was 11 when I went, so I don't remember as many things unless I start looking at my photo book. But I do remember calmness, happiness, fellowship with my family and others. Bonding time with your family; at DisneyWorld, has got to be the best thing I've ever experienced at 11 years old.

I haven't been to Disney since then but I hope to go in the near future. If you ever want to plan a vacation and don't know where to go, try going to Disney. You won't regret it. Disney has so many vacation packages and payment options and it'll all work out perfectly. Save up during the year and take yourself, your friends and family. There's so much to do and explore there, it can't even be done in two days. Stay a whole week, maybe even two! Disney is truly the happiest place on earth and I miss every minute of it. When I go back, I'm going to try different foods and rides that I didn't the first time. I want to thank Disney for an awesome experience, a positive vibe and having a good, positive workplace and getaway for me, my family and many others.

"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse" -Walt Disney

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
