My First Time Voting And The Experience & My Thoughts

First timer on voting.

Well, the 2016 Presidential Election came and went just like that. It was my first time getting to vote! Unfortunately, I did not have the best candidates to choose from though! I turned the legal voting age during Barack Obama's presidency, so I have not had the chance to vote until now. It was a little exciting but not as exhilarating as I thought it would be. I had classes that day starting at 12:30 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m., not giving me long to get back after, so I had to go vote before. The line was pretty long here in my town so that was making me a little nervous. However, luckily I got through the line, voted, and was on my way to get some lunch and head to class.

I was a little nervous waiting for my turn next, because I was afraid I could not manage the machine and would vote for the wrong person or not vote for one I wanted to. However, I managed just fine, and that part was fun. It tells you to press the red button to cast your votes when finished, and that was somewhat empowering I think. After I voted, a phrase from television and movies came into my head and made me laugh. The saying "Don't push the red button!" had me thinking that something majorly bad would happen or destruction would be imminent. My grandpa and mom did not get it. Maybe you will and you will laugh also when reading this!

I am just glad the whole election process is over. I got so tired of my mom continuously watching all things 2016 Election since it started. I really do not know anything about politics, probably because I am not a big fan of politics and all the hoop-la it brings with it to begin with. Although Trump didn’t win the popular vote, he did win the election. He makes me nervous because of all the negative things I have heard about him, but you never know...hopefully.

At least half of the American population is super upset that Trump won. Some have threatened to move. Massive protests have been happening in numerous cities since the election ended, and hate crimes are on the rise. I get it. This sucks. But how is this helping? There is nothing you can do about it. What is done is done. You can thank the 50% of Americans that did not even vote! It could have helped! That is what happens and what we get when we do not participate in this huge event that frankly no one was looking forward to finishing out. Trump won, and now he is our new president. We just have to suck it up...for the next four years anyway...then we shall see.

For now, I am hoping that the protests stay peaceful and that perhaps Mr. Trump will unite the divided country and do some good things for the people during his presidency.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
