Last week, I was visiting my best friend in North Carolina. Normally, we go out and see movies, go to the beach, or do something outdoors. However, that is the case when I am there in the summer. This time I was visiting her in the winter so our plans had to change.
Her family and I were sitting on the couch when her father asked me if I had ever gone shooting. When I replied saying that I have never gone but was interested in doing it, he decided to take my friend and I to the shooting range. I was so excited and a bit nervous at the same time.
When we arrived at the shooting range, her father explained the procedure on how to work a rifle and how to aim and shoot. It was a lot to take in and a bit more difficult than I expected. Luckily her father loaded the rifle for me and I was able to focus more on the aiming and shooting part rather than the actual set up.
The first time I pulled the trigger I had a rush of adrenaline and excitement even though the rifle back fired and pushed against my shoulder. After getting the hang of the first rifle, I moved on to two other rifles that we brought with us. Slowly my aim was getting better with each shot I took and in the end I was able to take home the poster that I was shooting at so that I could always remember my first time shooting.
