November 8, 2016 will be a day that is a monumental part of what it means to be an American. On this day, I will be casting my first ever vote in a Presidential Election.
I have watched each of the Presidential Debates that took place during this Election Season. I have spoken with friends, peers, and teachers. I have learned about each candidate and tried to inform myself to the best of my ability about both the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, and Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton. I want to be able to make an informed decision as I cast my vote for who has the potential to be the 45th President of The United States.
Being able to have a say in our government, although indirectly, is something that Americans take for granted, while many people in other countries wish they even had the slightest say in what their government is doing. My one vote may not seem as if it will count in the grand scheme of things, but, along with millions of other Americans' votes, it is powerful. I am not only voting to express my own powers, but in order to get a sense of appreciation for this whole election process since it is my first time voting in such a monumental event.
If this election does not turn out how you had hoped and you did not go out and vote, you will have no room to complain, because at least your one vote means you tried. So, if you can, go vote! It will make a difference, and you will be a part of American History saying you had a say in who was elected the 45th President.
