It's about time. I know that has to be what you're thinking, right? You've only waited for this since I started writing. So, my apologies for the delay. But, in my defense, it is pretty hard to put any words to our friendship. I've started this so many times during school, because long distance is hard, (I sound like a needy girlfriend, sorry) and I missed my best friend. I never could finish it though, because our friendship is so much more to me than what I could ever type in this Odyssey article.
There is one word that comes to mind when I think of our friendship: unbreakable. It's more than ugly snapchats, late night laughs, and ugly cries — it is a never-ending bond. A bond that only you and I have.
It's knowing each other inside and out, and knowing just how to cheer the other person up. It's being a shoulder to cry on at all times — even if it's just because I spilt an entire container of ice cream on me after a long, bad day. It's forcing each other to talk, even if we don't want to, because we know it's needed. It's being better people when we're with each other, because honestly I think everyone else likes us better together even if its twice as annoying. It's the constant laughing. It's holding each other responsible for our actions, even when they aren't the best or most responsible. It's supporting each other with all decisions, and never judging those decisions, either. It's a friendship that I love more than anything. It is strong and it is unshakeable.
From all of the middle school names, notes and baby names for all of our crushes (it sounds creepier now), from all of our favorite and least-favorite memories, our friendship is my favorite one. I know that it will be forever, too.
I don't have to worry about me and you, because I know that no matter how much time passes or how many days have passed since we talked, that next time it will be like that time never passed at all. I know that 60 years from now, it will still be me and you trying to figure out how to do the Hoe Down Throw Down, and telling our middle school stories for the thousandth time.
I love ya. Thanks for keeping me around all of this time.
