As I'm sure you can guess from the title, this is the last post I will write for Odyssey. It has been an incredible experience, but I feel like it is time to move on and explore other extracurricular activities. I have truly enjoyed my local Odyssey community, watching one of my best friends become the president of our team, and expanding my writing skills.
Learning how to have those tough talks and not be afraid of the reactions to putting my work out there, as honest and raw as some of those articles were, has made a big difference to my confidence and my willingness to talk about what actually matters.
This experience and belonging to this organization just goes to show that literature and writing do and will continue to matter, regardless of whether or not our future careers make us the most money in this society's eyes. We have cultural currency and capital, and writing will never stop affecting every aspect of our world.
So thank you Odyssey and everyone else who has been a part of cranking out weekly articles and trying to find a space to communicate in a world that despite increased access to media and words, actually seems even harder to communicate in. We know that writing matters, and we won't stop.
And to everyone who has read and shared my articles over my time with Odyssey, thanks to you too. I obviously wouldn't have been able to continue writing without your views, comments, and attention. I really appreciate it, and I really appreciate you!
Goodbye, Odyssey. It has been a great time. I'll miss you.
