It is well with my soul.

Isn't it funny how a song can bring forth a memory? For me, "It Is Well," the Kristene Dimarco version, always reminds me of the hardest times in my life where it has been hard to completely fix my eyes in the Lord. And truth be known, I'm the kind of person who will play a song over and over and over again.

You see, this song has gotten me through some pretty hard times in my life; times where the path in front of me seemed like it simply was not there and I was taking blind steps. This song reminds of how sovereign our God is over every aspect of our life, this is why it is well with our souls if we walk by faith. Though life sometimes feels like a series of waves crashing into us, I am reminded that it is well with my soul. It is well because my eyes are fixed on the Lord and I know He brings me hope and provides me with air to fill my lungs in the midst of hardship.

In the midst of the waves crashing into us, it's hard to see what's in front of us. I often forget that confidence in our next steps derives from faith. Lack of confidence in my steps is such a common theme in my life if I am not prayerful before jumping into something. However, when I am prayerful about every single step asking our sovereign God for guidance, He lights my path.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" - Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

For me, I settle and I subconsciously refuse to move when God is pushing me to make daring steps. I often sit stagnant and comfortable when He wants to use me for big things.

I find it crazy yet so beautiful how obvious God makes it when I am not fully fixing my eyes on Him. I find myself blindly walking into things (not literally, maybe) and simply bumping my way through life. If I've learned anything from this, it would be that in the end, God wants us walking on His path; the path of righteousness. Sometimes He will let us wander away if we are not fixing your eyes on Him. We are naturally curious as humans and we often find ourselves wondering what it is like to walk on people's paths whether good, bad, or simply different than our own. And God WILL let us try walking on that path if we let our feet wander that way. But in the midst, He pulls us back, whether it be quite literally or not, on His path because it's far greater than any path we could ever walk on. When you fix your eyes on the Lord, He reveals the path He has meticulously crafted for your life. How beautiful is that?

So let's fix our eyes on the Lord. Let's find peace in His presence. Let's bask in His everlasting Light. It's truly a beautiful thing to rely on faith in the Lord as our life compass. And when the waves come, we will find ourselves to be so strong. When our eyes can't see what's in front of us, we will be whispering "it is well" because our sovereign God is altogether good and His plan is altogether perfect.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
