My Experience With Dance Appreciation

For my Spring 2017 semester at my college, I have been busy taking six classes. One of those classes that I have come to like is Dance Appreciation.

I have not only learned about the history of different dance styles, but my professor has taught me some dance moves.

My midterm involved me composing an autobiographical solo about who I was as an individual in this society.

I was really nervous about composing my own dance. Getting down the proper movements with the right song was difficult.

Finding a song to go with my choreography was definitely one of the most challenging parts of creating my autobiographical solo. Anyways, for the most part, I did not do too bad, but I did not do great either.

In some ways, I felt like I did not have enough movement and I was scared that I did. After watching the video of myself dancing, I have no idea what to think about it.

However, I think I still got the message out to everyone of what I was trying to express and I knew that would be the most important element to have in my dance.

Honestly, I felt close to forgetting most of my movements, too. I was scared about messing up somewhere or not completing enough steps.

In my opinion, my creative idea by making a circle of roses helped me concentrate on where I wanted to go and how I wanted to move. I was able focus my thoughts a little bit more than I was before.

Practicing a choreographed dance is tough whether you created it or not. It’s not as easy as it looks. No matter how many times I practiced, I felt like it kept getting tougher and more challenging to do.

Honestly, a person has to have a lot of experience in order to successfully remember the proper dance movements for a performance.

In the end, I think I did okay for the most part. I wish I would have had more movements than what I had intended. Be that as it may, I did not want to have too many movements either and confuse anyone in the class.

This was truly a wonderful experience! It also made me think "Hey, this is a perfect lesson for people because no matter how impossible a task such as dancing may be, the more one feels confident in oneself will surely help them be successful in the end!"

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
