My Experience With Eyelash Extensions

Try them to feel like a whole new you!

My Experience With Eyelash Extensions

I always thought eyelash extensions were exactly like fake “strip” lashes, just with a stronger glue. It turns out I was wrong. I got eyelash extensions for the first time this week, and it has changed everything for me. I didn’t really think about getting them because I always thought mascara or fake lashes did the trick, but now I don’t think I will ever go back.

When I went to get my lash extensions, I was told it would take about an hour and a half to do, but that I would spend a majority of that time laying on a bed with my eyes closed. As a contact wearer, it was a good idea for me to take out my contacts beforehand, because they can get pretty dried out. I never knew how much patience it took to apply eyelash extensions. They are glued to each individual lash using a heavy-duty lash glue and tweezers. It’s tedious work, and a while to wait for, but completely worth it in the end!

Being given a few different options for type of extension (thickness) and length, I chose to go a bit thicker all over, and longer than my natural lashes for a bolder look. My eyes are usually really sensitive, and I was worried that the glue or the process would irritate my eyes too badly, but I got through it with minimal issues. It’s not a comfortable thing to go through at first, but as you get used to a bright light behind your eyelids and objects being glued to you, it’s a breeze. Sit back, relax, and take a nap!

One of my main concerns I had before trying the extensions was that they would feel uncomfortable, or even heavy, like strip lashes do. When the appointment was over and I finally had my gorgeous extensions, I opened my eyes and didn’t feel a thing. It didn’t even feel like I was wearing mascara. They are so light and flexible that besides being able to see them sometimes (because of the length), they feel completely natural.

Lash extensions last a couple of weeks and when you start out, the full set is usually around $100. After that fills are required every couple of weeks, but are substantially less expensive (sort of like acrylic nails). My lashes are so much fuller and longer that most days I don’t put on any eye makeup. I’m saving money on makeup and time in the morning, and both of those facts made this experience worth it for me.

Eyelash extensions are something I never thought I would try, but I’m so glad I have. They are great for everyday wear, and the fact that I can choose how bold my look is with length and thickness is something I really like. I would love to have my eyelash extensions for a special occasion, so I never have to wear those heavy strip lashes again! If you’ve ever wanted to try eyelash extensions but weren’t sure how they would turn out, I highly recommend them! I am so glad I took a chance and tried them out, and I think you will be too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
