When I get a craving for food, I want it right then and there. I am an impatient person by nature. So naturally, fast food has become my one true love. INSTANT FOOD, YOU GUYS. It may not be the BEST quality, by nature, but it gets the job done. One of my favorite food items is burgers. Mmmm yes, please. I also love that I have a variety to choose from: Wendy’s, Burger King, McDonald’s, Five Guys, etc. Wait a minute. What if one of our two favorites got together and made one magical burger. OH MY BABY JESUS that would be wonderful.
This week, Burger King wanted to do the unthinkable and create a mashup burger with McDonald’s called the McWhopper for one day and one day only with a pop-up stand in the good old ATL. Why, you may ask, would these two huge organizations even think about doing this? Burger King wanted to bring awareness to the organization Peace One Day. Peace One Day is all about making Peace Day on September 21st official and reducing violence all around the world. The McWhopper would be about these two huge organizations that people would not think would get along putting aside all the conflict and getting together for one day, therefore making a difference for others.
Before you get too excited, get prepared. McDonald’s said no.
I get why they did, though. Here is Burger King calling them out in front of everyone, making them seem like the bad guy if they said no. They obviously loved the idea but did not want to collaborate on the McWhopper. Curious what was said? Read for yourself and see what you think.
.
However, the ad has paid off. Remember, the goal was bringing more awareness to the organization, Peace One Day, and what they stood for. People now know more about this organization and are getting behind their cause. Even though Burger King made McDonald’s seem pretty bad in the process, they accomplished part of what they set out to do.
However, this is not the end of this story. Oh no, Burger King will not give up. They had a goal and they wanted to achieve what they set out to do. THEY WROTE ANOTHER LETTER. They decided to reach back out to McDonald’s and see if more restaurants would be interested in picking up what they were putting down.
Burger King is an organization that apparently will not take no for an answer. They want to call it the Peace Burger. I salute you, Burger King, in trying to make all of my fast food dreams come true in a burger-sized package.
In the end, Denny’s, Giraffa’s USA, Krystal, Wayback Burgers were all game for making the peace burger. THANK THE LORD. Inside me, however, my heart and stomach are still crushed. McDonald’s, why must you break my heart? I love you and all for making all day breakfast a thing, but come on!
