My Dogs and I

Who said animals could not be your best friends?

My Dogs and I

Rusty was my best friend and will always be my best friend even if he is no longer here with us. Even though he is gone, I still have three other wonderful dogs that are always happy to see me just like he was. Rex is the oldest, then Rio and then baby Rambo is the youngest. Just so you all can now who is who, Rex is a Maltese/poodle mix, Rio is a Yorkshire/terrier mix and finally, Rambo is a Chihuahua/terrier mix. Even though they all have different personalities, they all get along really well and are always playing with one another which warms my heart.

Rusty would always be next to me and when I needed to vent about something, he was there. That was our thing. That was how he would make me feel better about different situations I would have in my life. Whenever I was finished venting, he would rest his head on my leg and just look at me like if he saying “Cheni, it’s okay.” Rusty used to enjoy chasing birds all over the back yard and he looked so funny doing so because it was impossible to catch any of them. Whenever he would do this, it would make me laugh so much until my stomach started hurting.

Just like Rusty would listen to me always, Rex does so as well. He will usually sit next to me on the couch while I am busy doing homework or watching TV. If I get up to do something around the house, he will get up as well and follow me around to make sure I am not leaving him. He is around 15 pounds and although he is not so small, he gets scared of a lot of things. If he hears a strange noise, he will go hide under the table like if it were to protect him and it is so adorable.

Rio is a bit different than Rusty because he usually does not like to sit next to me because he prefers my dad over me. He likes to do his own thing, be on his own and loves to bark. Loves to bark. He also enjoys chewing on everything he can get his mouth on and enjoys going for a quick swim. When I see him swim, I feel so much joy and happiness.

Last but not least, Rambo, the baby of the family. My puppy is the cutest thing ever. He loves to run and chase his two older brothers and enjoys to bite their ears. He also happens to jump and chase after me when I get home after a long day of not being home. Rambo also enjoys to give lots of kisses and likes to be the center of attention whenever he meets new people.

My dogs are one in a million and I would never trade them for anything.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
